WE NEED EV/ EVO for WINDOWS PLEASE!

Basically if you made EV/ EVO for windows, well for one you will bring in alot more people to EV and EV/ EVO is just fun to play. but also very addictive. All the Macintosh Emulators have been very weak at playing games for Mac. but also there is NO sound what so ever so, it is ovious that you need to have EV/ EVO/ and from what i heard EVN for windows.

Setting aside the fact that EV has always been a Mac only game, how do you propose using resources under Windows? (I was going to do a search to find old posts similar to what your asking for, but can't seem to find the search option :frown:)

I'd rather see EVx come out for various Unix platforms before it was made for Windows.

Lock?

Er. Just buy a Quadra and use that. They don't cost anything anymore and they run EV great and EVO ok. Hell, at work I think we sell a Quadra 700 with a 13" monitor for $60.

You are correct sir in that aspect. What a port to Windows would require is a pretty big project. You'd have to have all info saved in the data fork and all plug-ins would require an editor. And Mac plug-ins wouldn't work with Windows.

You'd be better off just open sourcing the whole thing. That's what was done with Maelstrom. When you open source it you can make it optimal for various enviroments, like Aqua on Darwin, KDE on Linux....etc.

True. Speaking of which, where can I find the source for Maelstrom? I learn best by looking at examples.

OK, short answer, no. There will never, ever, be EV/EV:O/EV:N for Windows or any other platform. Long answer: No other platform has any answer to the resource fork of the Macintosh system, if a Windows version was made, there would have to be conversion utilities, and the ammount of files a plugin would need under windows would be stupid. Also, the programmer has expressed a strong opinion against porting to other platforms (to put it lightly)

Topic locked, it's yet another question asked without reading the FAQs.
