Two Problems with EVO Plug-In

Right now I'm working on a plug-in which adds and modifies a bunch of stuff in EVO 1.0.2. So far I have two big problems which I can't seem to get around.

1-SAD Modules: Something has happened that screws up SAD graphics. The SAD flies around for a moment, and the module suddenly looks like a plasma siphon and then continues on. It gives the SADs the effect of flashing in a weird way. How do I fix this? Is it a bug in EVO 1.0.2.?

2-Missions: I'm working on a new mission set for this plug-in. So far I've only made two missions but I've already had some problems. The second mission I made (which comes after you have completed the first mission) I simply cannot get. I've got the mission bit right, and all the things I need to have to get the mission are okay, but I just can't get this mission. This is a major part of the plug so I need these missions fixed.

I'm using EVO 1.0.2 and are using a combination of Resorcorer and EV-Edit. Please help!

I have no clue with the SAD problem, graphics are not my area, but missions are.

With the info you said, the problem could be twenty different things. All I can say is, use the Mission Control Editor. I don't know exactly where it is (a friend sent me directly to the site) but its on the Ambrosia/EVO page somewhere. It's a lot better for making missions than everything else and makes everything much clearer.

If you really can't see what's wrong, you can just e-mail me the two troublesome missions. I'm in the process of programming and bug-fixing a TR plug and I've gotten fairly good at fixing bugs. Or, just e-mail me what you have down for all of the parts and I'll check it out.

The SAD problem is indeed a bug. I'll go looking at EVO's resources and see if I can fix it. Maybe something for a plug...

Nope, a quick look reveals nothing wrong with the spďns. The problem must be caused by the "Spin weapon graphic continually" flag (Flag 0x0001). If you remove this flag, I'll bet the problem disappears.

I was right! I took out the flag and the SAD/Es didn't flicker once! I'll upload the plug to Ambrosia's site ASAP.

But then the SADs don't spin. I don't like that. Aren't they supposed to spin? Maybe we should just ask MB.

The spin causes the bug. I'm 100% positive on that. If you want them to spin without flickering you can talk to MB about it.

For the missions, check to see that the location isn't set to 2 - "bar and mission computer" because that is a misprint in the evo bible, 2 is actually for getting the mission off pers in space. So you can only get the mission in either the bar or the mission computer, not both, I don't know if this is the problem, but it has happened to me and its not something you'd think is wrong.

Do you have the latest Resourcer templates> I think I heard there was a problem with a previous version.

I think so. I'm using EVO 1.0.2.

Here's another question: Does the critical mission thing make it so that you can only get missions once? I thought so but I'm not exactly, entirely, completely sure.

No, a critical mission means that the mission pops up in the bar before any other missions. When there is only one mission available in the bar, then the critical mission flag does nothing.

You make sure that the pilot can get a mission only once by setting the availbitclear to the same bit as the compbit.

If the problem occurs when the graphic spins, then the graphic itself is the problem; one of the frames has a "bad mask," perhaps?

Apparently Mordon is experiencing this as well.

Here's another one:

In my plug-in, I've made a new Main Screen PICT. I just added on a few things to the original one. No expanding. However, when I started it up, it was offset from the buttons and center readout, and thus it was all screwed up. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Don't you think that was the first thing I checked? The masks are just fine. As I stated earlier, the problem disappears completely with, and ONLY with, the "Spin weapon's graphic" flag off.

BTW, my plug has been added to the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/evo/addons.html")EVO Add-Ons page(/url).

Hmmm, I've made modifications to that screen as well and nothing is wrong. I would suggest just re-doing it since you must have changed the dimensions accidently somehow.
