Okay, I downloaded the version of Mission Control available from R&R;'s site. The thing is buggier then EV-Edit and Netscape 6 put together! Here's what I got so far.
Missions will not delete
Every time I type a number in a dësc one of the wildcards (<DSY>, <DST>, etc.) shows up as if I had pressed apple-that number.
The mission IDs are totally different when I open the plug in ResEdit and vice versa.
"Were mission available" field seems to change spontaneously.
Not really a bug, but I think it'd be nice if you had to include your own data files insead of using the EVO ones by default, or at least be able to add data files. Comes in handy when doing a TC.

You can and I have. I've got a 1KW version that has all of the new data files except for cargo types. I'd be happy to email it to you this evening if you wish.
You can read the discussion about the cargo issue at the following link: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/001133.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS...TML/001133.html(/url)
------------------ Jon Potter Thank you for your cooperation. Good night.
Well, that fixes that.
But the other bugs are still out there. I shall cease doing missions until they fix this, the program really sucks right now.
Thanks. It is buggy - I am very busy and have been working on MC as I get a couple of hours here and there. I am trying to fix it though.
Also for everyone wondering about the cargo menu (Martin). You have to edit it in ResEdit if you want to customise it. Just remember to put the item number in ( ) brackets with no spaces.
Look, Mission Control is tricky, and I really do want it to work properly, so the more people who try it out and report bugs, the sooner it will be a good stable program. I sometimes get a bit carried away, but there is no substitute for testing. Thanks again and keep the reports coming.
Cheers Ralph

MC subtracts 128 from the ResEdit ID #, I think. It does the same in the "Stellar available" menus too. Am I right, Ralph? I hope so, since that formula's what I use to play with my plug in ResEdit.

That sucks, though.

Yeah, it's a little extra work, and pretty useless, but maybe Ralph thinks it's more logical for ID numbers to start from 0 than 128.

I sure don't!

I'm sorry, I didn't explain. The EVO bible says that the EVO data structures have IDs that start at 0, and resource number that start wth 128. Most, but not all, references from one resrource type to another use the ID, but a few use resource ID (ie ID =128) and still others use ID + whatever (like misn descs that are 4000 + ID. Most of the related resource formulae are based on ID (zero based) and internally my code identifies ships or missions etc by ID (zero based) and computes all the resource IDs (which are sometimes 128+ID and other time 3000+ID or 3500+ID etc etc)
ResEdit has no idea about EVOs logical structure and only knows about resource IDs. But you must admit that to work out which descs you want you probably have to subtract 128 and add say 3200, and it is more reliable that say just adding say 3072.
The confusion really arises because some resources have fields that specify resource IDs directly. I chose to use Logical IDs as a standard and to fix the inconsistent resource references when they arise.
Sorry it causes confusion, but it was just my personal solution to the problem.

Sorry you feel like that. It is still beta software and by definition buggy, and your reports are helpful in fixing it up. The more you do experiment and try it out properly, the sooner I can fix it and we can all breathe a sigh of relief
Cheers anyway! Ralph
Odd...I haven't had any of those major problems...
