Try out mission control 1.0.b3 (url="http://"http://www.sutherland-studios.com.au/family/evo_software.html")http://www.sutherlan...o_software.html(/url)

Must...download...thanks, Ralph! Ignore the e-mail I sent you...

Note: Although the 'special' menu flip down appears in the descs dialog, it is a passing phase and will be gone again in the next version. I guess this make 1.0.b3 a collectors version? Besides,it does nothing
Ralph
I couldn't find the 'special' menu.
Thanks for fixing the return thing.
One qualm by contrast with earlier versions, this doesn't seem to let me paste in the list of different cargo types.
Any way around this?
Regards
Martin

Yes I guess there is, what exactly do you mean? You want to customise the cargo types menu? It should be possible, but if it doesn't work I'll make is so soon. I guess 1.0b4 is not far off! ( several people have asked for a streamlined desc dialog so I'll probably kill two birds with one stone.) Not really very beta is it?
Give me a clearer example of what you mean and 24 hours and I'll have a new Mission Control (hopefully nearly ready to post on the Ambrosia add-ons)
Cheers Ralph

I'm guessing, but I think MT is trying to use Mission Control for a TC plug. I tried doing the same thing for use with 1KW even though 90% of my Missions are already programmed with ResEdit. To accomplish this, I duplicated the MC app. and cracked it open in ResEdit. Then I replaced the stock data (ship, spob, syst, govt, etc.) with the 1KW conterparts. I did the same thing for STR# 4000 "All Cargo", but the menu had reverted back to the stock cargos when I saved changes and opened Mission Control again. Very strange since the other modifications worked fine.
I'm not sure if this is the same problem that Martin Turner experienced, but it's a problem I noticed. But maybe you don't want developers poking around in the guts of your program.
------------------ Jon Potter Thank you for your cooperation. Good night.
Yes it is.
I've just noticed that there's no tick box for showing the flag of the special ship.
Any chance of a fix?
cheers.
Also, would it be possible to include a menu to put up the Special Ship names? They are hard to remember.
Also also, further to the earlier post, MC doesn't show up the cargo types even if they are in the file you're working on.
Despite all this, thanks once again for an excellent program.

On the contrary - I expect people to muck around inside the programs. however it shouldn't be necessary, ships in the plugin are supposed to override the 'built in' ones. However your brute force method should work fine - whatever it takes to get the plugins done
The program uses the built in resources when it starts up (during the splash screen) to make the lists. When a plugin is opened the lists are rebuilt using the plugin to override the built in resources. If you are using a multiple file TC pluging though, you may want to just customise the built in resources - as you have done.
I'll look at why the cargo types are not behaving.
PS I have heard the cry for Weapon Smith, but at least let me bed down Mission Control first. Too many tasks at once can get confusing and causes errors.
PPS what do people think of 'Personality Disorder' for a pers/govt/dude editor (it is vapourware at this stage, I just thought of the name)
How about 'Schizo' - after all, it IS a personality editor, right?
sarc
ps. if you have even just a working beta for WeaponSmith, can i get my hands on it?

Hi Martin, folks,
I've just done v1.0.b6 that addresses a number of bugs including the delete mission bug and the special strings menu key bug.
The final word on the cargo type menu: you can edit the cargo type menu with resedit to reflect the types you have in your plugin, it doesn't update dynamicly like the weapon and other menus in shipwrite. When editing, just remember to put the item number between ( ) brackets with no spaces. MC just looks for the ( ) and ignores the rest of the menu text, so you can make it what you like. MC compiles the lists dynamicly, but no the menus.
Finally, Martin - what special ship flag? Did I miss something in the bible??
PS I just got back from a two day workshop, sorry about the delay.
Oh yeah. 1.0b6 is at the usual location; (url="http://"http://www.sutherland-studios.com.au/family/evo_software.html")http://www.sutherlan...o_software.html(/url)
Also, I'm finally making a new mailing list for MC and ShipWrite ( I lost the old one!), so if you want to be on it, email me at
ralph@sutherland-studios.com.au
and I'll keep you up to date with stuff and you can email me more directly with problems.
Thanks once again. Unless I dreamt it, one of the innovations in EVO 1.0.1 was a flag to allow the mission ship to be pointed out on the map, like the green and red arrows.
Tell me I didn't dream it someone.
Hey Ralph, is the site down right now? Just tried to download it and couldn't.

Nope, it looks ok to me, I just tried to download it and it works.
Anyway the file is on my work server, so you could try directly to ; (url="http://"http://www.mso.anu.edu.au/~ralph/rodger/files/MC10b6.hqx")http://www.mso.anu.e...iles/MC10b6.hqx(/url)
but this could change in future , whereas the sutherland-studios URl should be stable to a while to come.
cheers Ralph

Thanks actually, now I come to look at my previous version, you'd told me this before and it does work. I was copying across the STR rather than the Menu.
Sorry for the hassle.
PS the new version looks good, except I much preferred the old way of doing DESCS it helps a lot if you can see what the name of the peculiar man in the black coat was without having to click backwards and forwards.
Nice work on the macros very hand.

Nope, you are right.
The pickup menu can be modified to pickup from the special ship, and I just missed the flag. I'll put it in the next version.

I'm in two minds myself - I had several people complain that the editing areas were too small in the 'all in one' version so this is my attempt at an alternative that still doesn't need the appearance manager...
I might even consider making it an option???
Also is isn't a hassle, feedback is the best way to improve the program.
PS I'll be adding credits for testers in the final version, you're on top of the list - thanks
