I am curious as to whether anyone on this discussion board can offer assistance with the following matters?
(1) In EV, is it possible to modify the date shown during the game (as you can using the "yea@" resource in EVO)? I somehow doubt this is possible, but if anyone knows of a hack, please do let me know.
(2) I have been trying to use the asteroids in EV as a "ship" (ie, mineable); while it works okay, the problem is they tend to "blink" or disappear every now and then, as their spins are not in the standard 6x6 format. Can this be fixed in any way?
(3) Does anyone on this list have any missile graphics/sprites they have made and decided not to use (spares)? If so, please contact me off-list as I would definitely be interested in using them in future projects. Unfortunately, as I have an older 33 Mhz LC040 Macintosh, my graphics apllication choice is essentially limited to GraphicConverter (as anything more advanced than that just crashes n' burns...)
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer any advice or assistance, it is very much appreciated.
Kindest Regards,
Tim

Nope. That was one of the features of the EV:O engine that EV just doesn't have.

Not short of getting asteroid sprites in a 6x6 format. I've tried this before without having new asteroids rendered and it just doesn't work. If you look at other plugs that had asteroids that behaved as ships (I think Galactic Scourge was one, Asteroid Ships was aother, and I'm sure there were more), they've got 6x6 sprites for the graphics. There's no way around it that I know of.

Nope. Sorry. Graphics are one thing I'm clueless on.

Go ask the people at (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/Chaosgrafix/index.html")Conwy Station(/url), operated by Chaos Grafix. I got a pretty cool missile graphic from them...

This may be possible by manually editing the date stored in your pilot file. I know it works for EVO, but haven't cared to try it with EV.
Why not use the EVO engine with the Escape Velocity Classic port?

(1) Not unless you want to distribute a pilot file with the plug. And then you'd have to sit there, landing and taking off repeatedly until you got the right date. And if you want a date before EV's start date, then no.
(2) Yeah. It's called "use the big asteroids".
(3) Yeah, but only if you like a nice 3/4 view!
Good luck with your plugs - -david-

(3) I've got some old missile, rocket, and torpedo designs I'm not using. Have you tried POV-Ray? It should work (albeit a bit slowly) on just about anything. And, since that's what I made my graphics in, if you can get it working, I'll give you the source files as well as the final images.
