Memory Problems w/ Plug-in

I have a plug-in that isnt to big but whenever I start up EVO A window appears that says, "EVO had trouble starting up, most likely due to lack of memory. Please increase EVO's Memory and try again." When I increase it even more the window still appears, even though I increased the memory to 110 meg. of memory, which is more than enough.

Try checking the plug. There might be something wrong there. A common cause is a spin resource with missing pictures...

If EVO doesn't like something about your plug, it's gonna say all sorts of false crap like: Not enough memory, Check Video Settings, etc. DONT CHANGE YOUR MEMORY!!! Any number of things could be wrong: Nebulas or other pics too big, resources out of synchronization, or trying to edit certain objects in you're plugin that are located in the main program. Also, if you're problem was the nebula thing, PLEASE tell me when and if you find a solution!!!!!

Out of memory, has always pointed to faulty spin graphics just that, nothing else, except really needing more memory.

I have a nebula that I currently dont have any pictures for, so that is most likely my problem. I also have two ships that dont have any spin graphics, so that could be it too.

Or your spďts could be off (That is a 't'). The spďt resource (Actually, only resource 128) stores the total number of sprites in the game. If this is off, it sometimes leades to out of memory problems.

's true. The spďt resource holds the total number of sprites. When the game is loading, it uses the information to updade the progress bar. When a sprite finishes loading, the game checks the spďt resource to see how many remain, and updates the bar accordingly. If the number is less than the actual total, the game stops loading early, leading to errors.

Unless this is new in 1.0.2, then I don't think this is correct. Although SPIT updates the progress bar, it seems to have no effect on anything else.

Other possible causes of misc. crashes I have come across are:

Any wrong or missing spins (as noted in the above posts)

Ship percentages in a system not adding up to 100% (EV-Edit does this a lot)

Engaging a quicktime movie which has dependencies or is set to High-Quality, or where the system heap is not big enough (eg, you've assigned too much memory to EVO)

Plug Checker will identify almost all of the crash-causing bugs, and is well worth the download. The current version is for EV and EVO, although I don't believe it's been updated to accommodate extra 1.0.2 stuff. BTW, the guy who made it also did Clavius. Kudos for both.
