I just realized that Dune might make a pretty cool plug-in for EVO (or EVN). If you don't know what Dune is, it's a series of books written by Frank Herbert. Of course, the plug wouldn't just involve Arrakis. Just throw in a few houses and governments. There's more than enough story to cover, so that shouldn't be a problem.

im currently discussing making a Dune plug with the original creator of EVO: Dune which was never released... so if he lets me go through with it, i'll probably have it released for EVN.

Cool. Well, I put together some planet graphics and found the most accurate planet/system info I could find. Just e-mail me, ICQ me or IM me and tell me if you want help with any of those. I'll post my splash screen tomorrow so you can have a look.
i've been trying to think of a way to make it work for quite a while, but i haven't been able to think up any way to make dune fit into the ev engine. i mean, there's the guild ships and then there's some independently owned no-ships, but those only come in in the last two or three books anyway. but in the first few books there aren't even independently owned spacecraft, with all combat taking place on land. i guess spöb could be translated to sietch and it could be land based, but even then it's largely hand-to-hand combat

It would be really cool if somebody finally do the Dune plug-in. I visited EVO :Dune site a few times a couple years ago and was hoping that plug-in would be released, but the author never finished it. Was a nice homepage though (gonna check it again now).

I didn't like Children of Dune as much as the others. It was too slow

Maybe this is a little off but the Sci-Fi channel is showing a new remake of the original dune. It shows all new 3-D graphics and effects and from what I can see in the preview, new ship designs etc....
Prehaps this is a good place to get new additional ideas for a plug based ont he story.

have you seen it (or any part of it)? if so, did they do a good job? i personally believe the original one sucked; not because the makers did a poor job, but because the series isn't very moviegenic (pardon the new word, but you get the idea). naja, i guess this is technically spam so i'll shut up now

From the comercials, it looks really good. Also, the Baron isn't as nasty as in the original :). I think it airs on December 3rd. You can get more info at scifi.com/dune
