Ann: ShipWrite 1.1b3 - for EVO 1.0.2

We're nearly there with ShipWrite. We have updated it for EVO 1.0.2. Check out (url="http://"http://www.sutherland-studios.com.au/family/evo_software.html")http://www.sutherlan...o_software.html(/url)

I am now going to work on Mission Control and Outfitter/Weapon Smith while Rodger gets further with 'The Outcasts' plugin.

Have fun and let us know of any problems

Cheers
Ralph

Changes:

ĽUpdated ShipWrite for EVO 1.0.2 (Yay!)

  1. Updates ship resources when opened to new extended EVO 1.0.2 size, padding out with -1s as required, and defaulting SkillVar, ShotXOffset
    and FuelRegen to 0.
  2. Added all the new flag options and fields for default items, etc.
  3. Reorganised the screen a little - it might be a little bit too big for 640x480 screens now :frown: Let me know if anyone has problems with this.

Ľ Menus are now customisable. Most menu items contain a number in () brackets,
these were originally just indicative. Now the menu item is parsed and the number in () brackets is extracted to insert in the dialog field, and the rest of the menu item ignored. This will allow plugin designers to customise the prompt menus to suite their own scenarios (ie insert the tech levels you actually use)
Ľ Some menus remain algorithmic (ie the flags) and cannot be customised, but most menus with simple numbers in () brackets can be modified.
Shipwrite does use menu checkmarks for the popup menus and these could be inconsistent with new customised menus, but we might just drop the check marks to solve this problem.
Ľ The customisable menus could be extended (ie have items added), but this has not been tested. Do not make them shorter though.
Ľ Do not modify the outfit, ship or government menus, they are created on the fly as plugins are opened.

Not Fixed Yet:

Ľ Still only one ship open at a time, opening multiple ships at a time will take a little while - we are working on it.

Ľ PDF manual file needs updating.

No, they're called geniuses, a category reserved to a rare few others, namely Pontus Ilbring, and Jeremy Condit.

Thanks everyone,

Rodger and I are just glad to have people interested in EVO to correspond with. we have been working away down here in Australia with very few other people who know much about EVO and even less who know about making plugins. When we last looked at the EVO webpages they were obviously languishing, the new pages and boards are great!

Rodger is probably human - although he seems pretty attatched to his keyboard at times, he is also really into 3D graphics and wants to do stuff like that when he grows up. Ralph has been accused of being a non-human, but really he is! Astrophysicists are generally a quiet conservative and serious species, but Ralph likes macs, programming and computer games anyway 🙂

Seriously though, there are garuanteed to be bugs in ShipWrite and Mission Control, and we love to hear about them 😉

cheers
Ralph

Very well-done stuff. We'll definitely keep you in the loop on EV3, so you can have an advance version of it should you wish to make your plug-in tools compatible with EV3.
