Quick Time movies — the answer?

As most of you are aware, Quick Time movies in Frozen Heart fail to work (that is, they cause crashes) for at least half of players.

I was looking over the movies recently, and realised that the High Quality on feature, in QuickTime Pro, really slows down play back.

I've produced a new movie (1.3MB) with High Quality off (it was on for all of the FH movies) and it doesn't seem to crash at all.

I'm guessing that the HQ feature was what was causing all the problems, because of the overhead it was demanding in addition to EVOs.

Does anybody else have some reliable experience on making QT work properly with EVO?

quicktime movies take huge amounts of memory when run within evo, so anything you can do to get the ram usage down gives them a better chance of running successfully. if you make a plug w/ 10mb movies, only g4 users will have the ram to watch them (hehe... you'd be surprised at what you can run when you can allocate 90mb of ram to ev). making less demanding movies, however, is pretty much the only way to make it available for all users (well, that or sending a $3k check with each copy of the plug on the condition that it gets spent on a new computer)
