Actually, I've killed three. And I'm like so pissed about this. It takes me about five minutes to kill one, I use up about 10 health potions..and what do I get? I'm so glad you asked. I'll tell you. I get 3000 experience points and a few measly pieces of gold. The first one I killed gave me four pieces of gold. Good grief. What a let down. I'm sorry. I really expected more. They're not worth the effort. I'll kill cyclops and ogres. I can at least get some good treasure out of them. Or I'll go back to Reef Island and kill liliths. This was sooo disappointing for me!! I am really really ticked!

It's just a game, Zelda.
You kill Sea Giants NOT for what they drop, but so you have the thrill of killing the blasted things.

yet if you do have luck (im still not so sure it means what it says it does in CS ) You can get all the kinds of stone armor from them, and all the kinds of rings, and also mabe a ring of the gods, all of these can be sold for alot of gold. epecialy the ring of the gods.

I understand what you're saying, but I completely disagree. I've been building up to this moment. I care not at all about killing them if I don't get anything for it. And I get practically nothing. No gold, and precious little experience points. Not worth it. And yes, it's a game. But in such a game one expects to get GOOD things for doing stuff that is hard. Because no one plays a game in which they don't get rewarded for doing hard things. Heck, that's why you play a game!! The feeling of accomplishment. And here..there's none. I actually lose out in killing one. It costs way more in terms of health potions than what tiny little I gain from killing one. I definitely feel that is just wrong. Gah.

I've killed three of them and gotten absolutely nothing. And just so you know. my luck is 18. Nevertheless, it's not right that a cyclops or a lilith gives you more plunder. And gads, the most I've gotten from a giant is 35 gold. Any number of monsters gives you more.
I'll admit, I need to get more more luck potions. Nevertheless...this lack of ANYTHING when I kill one is just horribly disappointing.

Grr. Seriously. Much grring. I have spent lots and lots of time killing the giants already. Are you telling me that if I keep killing them I'll hit a jackpot? Don't mess with me. I'm not a happy camper.So...Angel baby...where ARE these commanders? Hmm?

Heh, sorry, there all the same. But ya, I guess hitting the jackpot is a good way to put it, specialy if you get a ring of the gods (but its rather rare). you can keep it, and it gives you +3 to all stats other then speed (if you use trinity) if your playing regular pog, it will also give +3 speed, its a sweet deal. Or you can sell it for 30000 at gwyden camp. Oh ya, they also drop elixers of various stats sometimes too.
What does a Sea Giant look like? Are they those green guys around Gidolan Keep with the massive double-clubs? They give me a lot of stuff. Or are they those guys down by the South Coast who have lots of black on them?

Yes, the sea giants are the big green guys with red armor carrying the double-bladed axe or club(I can't really tell, heh) that can be found all over Gidolan Keep. The guys down on the south coast that are really dark and have horns are Minotaurs.

Yeah..I knew you were kidding.
Anyway, I'm over it now. I feel better. I still think it's cruddy that I can't get anymore out of them since it's so difficult to kill one, but I'm moving on to finishing the game out now. Perhaps I'll try killing one again when I can afford to go purchase some more luck. How much luck would you suggest that I have?

The more the merrier. I think that I had sea giants regularly dropping skill potions and rings when my luck hit 50 or so. Up to that point is was infrequent at best.
Good luck. heh.

50??? Good lord, that's unreal. It must take an incredible amount of time and battles to collect that much gold. Look, I gotta tell ya, the combat is my least favorite part of this particular game. There is way too much mindless boring combat required to get anywhere. I'm not keen on killing thousands and thousands of monsters in order to get as much gold as I would need to up my luck to 50. If 50 is really what it will take, I'm not going to bother. That would require me to spend the next ten hours just killing stuff. Booorrrring. Gads, how did you even stand that? I have to have SOMETHING happen.
Anyway, I'm basically done with the game and just need to get through the cave near High Garendall. I'm going to make sure I've done everything before I head up there because someone told me that once I win the game, I can't go back and explore. I guess Sea Giants just won't be on my list.

Just save a copy of your game file outside of the cave, and access that when you want to do some exploring.

Interesting. Well..I have luck of 19 and have gotten squat. ::sigh:: I hate to keep trying and waste my dang health potions. Because I use so many of them up just to kill one. I dunno..maybe I'll try again. But heart is so not in it anymore.
But gads, you've killed that many sea giants? This combat bores me to tears. Well, maybe if I could get good stuff I would be less bored.
Ohh..and let's be clear. You are referring to regular PoG and not the Trinity plug-in? Because I am not playing Trinity.
(This message has been edited by Zelda (edited 02-14-2002).)
Look, Zelda, if I were you and you got squat from 'em then I would just run 'cuz I had 152 health and they still killed me in one hit when I got too close. Then again, my strenght isn't too good either...
------------------ Once upon a time. The End.
that was from regular pog. well you can always fight a giant, use up your potions, but if it has squat. Just reopen a saved game to save yourself from wasting potions. Then again there that whole "I dont like the fighting bit" and that would make that style ever more unpleasant.
