I've just started using the sequencer in Infini-d, and I'd like to know how to create a movie of my ship rotating (like the ships do in the EVO 3D models set).
When I tried to use the 'Spin' animation assistant, set to spin once of the span of 7 seconds, it didn't work, the ship seemed to fly apart, only to come back together at the last minute. Kinda cool, but not what I was looking for.
If anyone knows how to make the ships rotate (like in the game) using the sequencer, could they please tell me.

First, you have to group all your ship objects to a central object. It sounds like you selected and spun all your objects, which applies the spin to each object individually. Not what we want.
To do so, create any object at the center of your ship (where you want it to rotate around). Go to object info, uncheck show object and cast shadows. In the sequencer, drag all of your objects onto the "parent" object to make them child-linked to it.
Now, you could use the spin assistant on the new parent object, but that isn't what EVO wants. Using "spin" causes it to spin but first accelerating into the turning motion and decelerating out of it. The proper way would be to go through and at regular intervals (I use seconds) rotate it by 10°. That is what EVO uses and what produces a nice, constant rotation.
To save time and effort, I have a file saved with the cameras in place and the "spinner" object already animated. I simply design my ship in a copy of that file, link it to the spinner, and it's ready to render! No tedious repeating of setting up the spinner!
I hope this helps.

Pressuming that, too, is in the manual.
BTW, anyone know who picked-up Infini-D when MetaCreations decided to shove its head up its as(s)? Yeah, Corel nabbed Bryce, but I would love to see some company release Infini-D 4.5 for, say, US$50.

My, my, my... someone can't argue a point very well, can they? Why must you resort to ad hominem attacks--personal assaults tangent to the discussion? Your IP resolves to CalTech. Either you're a kiddy using a parents' account or CalTech has dropped its admission standards--if you're in college and that's the best argument you can muster, I'm rather frightened for the fate of this country.
Just because people do something illegal all the time doesn't make it right. At the base of it, pirating software is stealing as it (can) represent a lost sale to a company. True, most (most) people here couldn't afford a copy of, say, Lightwave or Cinema4D XL... but do you think Ambrosia is using a pirated copy of Lightwave for EV3? (Doubtful. Andrew drives (or at least used to) a HumVee.) Regardless, this feeling that one is somehow entitled to the intellectual and creative property of others is very scary indeed. Simply because something is not tangible does not mean that it doesn't have value.
If you want a 3D program, download Strata3D or Mechanisto. Obviously Strata3D is the better if your machine can support it. Want an image retouching program? Download and register GraphicConvertor and it should handle EV/EVO related needs adequately. Or try NIH Image which is completely free (and oss, to boot).
FINALLY, if I see another, base ad hominem attack from you, directed at me, I will have to ask the moderators to take action. You're more than welcome to express your opinion, and I encourage you to do so, but I feel most in the EV/EVO community would agree that personal attacks are completely uncalled for.
Now back to working in my completely legal copies of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Quark.

And oh, btw, RTFM is the standard response for such a question. I specifically know that the Infini-D manual has a tutorial on animtion, and they are quite explicit about group objects before rotating.
RTFM.
Infini-D died a long time ago, update-wise. It almost officially died with the release of Carrara. I doubt MetaCreations would sell it to you if it were even still around. I've heard some copies are floating around auction sites or in old inventory, but since it's been discontinued noone is gonna produce it again.

Yes, but MetaCreations is no longer the MetaCreations of old. As I said, a company shuld buy it and either release it at low cost and freeze development, or continue development and release at a slightly higher cost.
Andrew: Have Ambrosia buy it

Try going to grand-novice.com and downloading Matt Dailey's shipbuilders' guide. It helps you out if you're just starting with Infini-D, and has an object you can link your ship to and have it ready for sprite rendering.

Excellent advice! Thank you! I have now managed to make the ship perform a succesful 360? spin, but I can't get the ammount of frames write to make a sprite resources. Oh well, I'll try Grand-Novice.
