Star Trek Plug. How's it goin?

Just wondering whats happening with those whacky people making the star trek plug. Where you up to?

Also, if your interested in some help making a startrek Ares... That would be cool.

Heh, well, I'm in Beta testing...mission programming, small fixes here and there, etc. All ships are done (64 ships) , all weapons are done, outfits (mostly done). Great graphics for this plug too...=) That's all for now.

I'd make one for Ares if I decide to register Ares later on. As far as I can tell, the plugs don't work on unregistered copies...

Nope...too busy actually working rather than promoting...it'll be open for public veiw when we finish...meaning no public testing...All I will say is what's in my above post....to get a peek at what kinda graphics the plug's gonna have, check the sig and the site...PEACE YO!

It's not a competiton yo...we just happen to be doing a plug about the smae show...=)

However, I did d/l your current plug and here is a small report...

There are lots...I mean lots of bugs...I crashed a lot of times when I landed on a planet and tried to check the commodities. This is because you don't have commodity flags set. Other bugs I saw were weapons sprites disappearing after a while...and some other small stuff. Also, check your ships' sizes and re-render some of them. I suggest making the Excelsior and Ambassador much larger...they're both over well over 450 meters each and they look tiny compared to the Galaxy Class and Sovereign class, which IMO are a bit too big. They even dwarf the D'deridex class and that's supposed to be like 0ver 1200 meters. Also, go through your ship data and change the size and mass to make it a bit more trekkieish. Currently it's pretty far off. Well, the graphics kick ass along with many other aspects. After it gets cleaned up a bit more and gets missions...I wouldn't doubt that this will be a great plug. Thanks for your critique Kwanzar, but like Apple reminding the awaiting public, it is only "beta" (well, Apple says "Developer Release", but I consider the two to be close enough ;Ź)

But about the scales, I'm afraid I'll have to argue our case...

You see, we have the Borg. A ship so massive it probably could dwarf the Death Star (or be close to equivalent size). Than we have the Soverign Class. How are we susposed to keep these ships to scales within the confines of the spîn resource? Our answer was to make them of the largest size possible, past a certain number of large ships. Sure the Warbird dwarfs the Enterprise D, but that would make us change all the scales to a much smaller size. Our shuttle would be less than a pixel big to scale! The DY-100 class (botany bay) would be 2-3pixels!!!

As for the mass...

The big ships refuse to fire torpedoes past a certain "small" mass. We encountered this perdicament with the Cardassian Defence Drones. All big ships should fire torpedoes at this small but powerful ship. Thus the masses had to be the same. I hold that the masses will not be accurate in the final release because of this issue.

But for the planets, from the plugin you downloaded you should be able to tell that it definetly needs work, I mean just look at Dominion space. Pathetic. Borg Space has like 10 s˙sts!!! But all will be corrected in the next plug release (well, Stellars will have achieved true "Beta" status. The only real plugin that has achieved "Beta" status IMO is the "Star Trek Ships" plugin.

This should probably be placed under EVO Developer forums as it is some tips (such as the mass one, FYI)

Oh well. We all have different ways to do things but in the end will accomplish virtually the same goal. Creating a HiQ Star Trek plugin. Note to all STEV:O Lovers watch for the new STEV:O homepage at

Oh, the excelcior was resized prior to your comment to be a bit larger and a new Ambassador model is in the works (again it was planned to be a bit larger), as well as several others. I appreciate the comments though. It is reassuring to hear people have the same opinions as me about our models, sprites and sizes.
