Conundrum=)-Strata

Does anybody know if it is possible to run the free stata 3d on anything other than OS 8.5??

OR if I can get OpenGll library which will work with older sytems 7.6?

I have my doubts but i was just wondering?

S Im not really to keen on upgrading onmy pretty old machine and I really need to use strata.

OpenGL requires MacOS 8.5 or later, and Strata 3D requires OpenGL, thus it requires MacOS 8.5 or later.

If you can't put at least MacOS 8.5 on your Mac, it won't run Strata3D. We're talking about a professional level 3D program, here, not some bit of shareware. For christ's sakes, the ReadMe for the update to SSP 2.5.3 admonished Windows98 users of that very fact.

Are you sure it will run on system 8.5? On download.cnet.com it says you need OS 9, and I have 8.5, so I didn't download it. Are you sure it will work?

Strata StudioPro worked fine with OS 8.5 and OS 8.6 (you should, btw, update to 8.6... it's a bit more stable, something that counts with 3D programs is stability.) IIRC, all the changes to Strata between the 2.5.x product and the 3.x product are completely internal, meaning that you shouldn't ( shouldn't ) have a problem running it.

Well, has anyone successfully run the free Strata on 8.5? I have a 28.8 modem and I don't exactly want to download a 22 mb file and have it not work.

You do realise that if you hadn't spent all this time hemming and hawing, you could've just downloaded the darn thing and tried it yourself? Think on that for a bit, then download it.
