Yes, this has relevance to this board. I'm using Bryce for my graphics.
I see land planets (those blue planets with green or brown specks on them) embedded into EV Graphics, and I wonder how they're done. Are they producedin Bryce 3D? If so, how? Otherwise I'm stuck with default planets that don't match my current planet designs (which I think rock )

Well any textures can be made to look interesting like a planet. Simply make a sphere, put ANY textures on it. Hit the "M" for the materials folder theat appears to the right of a object mesh that has been highlighted red. When in the materials folder you can change the texture to alsmost anything you want! When in there... change the color and size of the texture to match the color of the planet's surface you want. Pleae note: planets usually do not have a very bright intense color so you would want to go slow on the specularity to prevent the sphere from being too bright and shiny! Change the colors of the texture until you find a combination you like, This can be done in the materials folder. On the far right of the materials folder appears little windows where you can see the individual pict of images that make up the texture. You can change anyone or all of them. At the top of each of these little inage windows, there are small spheres that you can click on. THe first sphere is to change the texture size. I think the color changes are done in the 3rd sphere. Anyways its the sphere that si slightly brownish in color. After you get the color combination you want, change how the texture is applied to the object. Most of the time the default of any texture is World Space or Object Space. Switch that to Random for all the images that make uo the texture. This will cause all the picts that make up the texture to randomly mix together. You will be surprised as how much such random patters and colors look like a planet when seen from a distance
Hope this helps!

And hey, yet more people who have pirated software and are clueless how to use it. Little tip 7331 D00DZ: If you pirate a MetaCreations app with a Kraussian UI, you will need a manual. I've got a Bryce 3D 4.0 manual sitting right here, and I could tell you ho to find so many hidden features that would make your life easier, but I won't. Why? Because you didn't pay for it.
I Agree With foo12, if you had paid for the software you would have a manual, and what's more it seems to me that people who make plugs with pirated software are just degrading the whole ideal of shareware, there are plenty of shareware 3D programs, like Mechanisto, RenderBoy etc... If you don't pay, then you should use these!

Exactly. And one could always download Strata3D and use it for free. Though it's not a dedicated scenery builder, it will do in a pinch. And it's free. And powerful, and legal to download and use without paying anyone anything.
I think Strata 3D is pretty difficult, because no manual or tutoritals are included. I downloaded it, but I'm not using it anymore. I made one sphere, and then stopped using it.
Are there any guides out there?

In response to your accusations:
I do not own a pirated copy of Bryce 3D, nor any product; never have, never will. This copy of Bryce which you claim is pirated is a demo which I play around with whenever I'm bored. When it's not in use, I keep it in stuffed format and let it sit. These two graphics I have prepared in my defense:
(url="http://"http://www.crosswinds.net/~spamguy/bryce3d.gif")Graphic One: Demonstration of Demo's Age On My Machine(/url) The two circled dates are when I first DLed Bryce; the stuffed copy's date represents when I first stuffed it. Because I've been playing with it recently, it is currently unstuffed, although I keep the stuffed version alongside.
(url="http://"http://www.crosswinds.net/~spamguy/bryce2.gif")Graphic Two: Demonstration of Demo Notice(/url) This is a picture of what happens when I try to save - in short, I can't. It's a demo.
However, take notice. I will make a confession that doesn't fit your accusations, but it would be lying to not say it. Here, I'll put it in boldface to make a big deal out of it: If I produce a graphic I like, I take a snapshot using cmd-shift-3. Yes, it has a watermark, and I wish it weren't there, but that's the price I pay for settling with the demo. I was considering inserting my graphics in this condition, but this topic brings up the fact that a) the watermark would be utterly embarrassing (duh), and if I look past the watermark, I realize I was fooling myself in saying my graphics "rock". Thus I'm ditching any graphics I considered applying to the developing compu*wars, and looking for help elsewhere. I now have someone who does non-Bryce-involved graphics already, but I hope to hunt down someone with Bryce soon.
Let me continue with my pirating history: one item, ever. End of story. It was Oregon Trail, and it is approaching its 8th year of age. I always wanted to play it, since I have seen many others play it in front of me. There's no chance you'll find it on software shelves now, and finding it in used software stores is merely a low chance. So I found a place on the Internet that had it, and I DLed it. I played it a few times, and ditched it. Now I know what it's like, and I don't need to do that again.
I ask for an apology from those who responded to this message claiming I pirated. I feel very angry being falsely blamed like this. Thank you for your understanding.
Of course, it's easy to bypass the watermark thing in the demo. just do a screenshot before the render line (whatever you call it) gets to the bottom. You'll lose a few pixels of course, so plan ahead.
What are you trying to do, get me to violate the privilege of the demo?
I'll pretend I didn't hear that.
Sorry for jumping to any conclusions spamguy, but it does seem a little convinient that CrossWinds does not allow external linking to it's files, and that you have no link on your main page for us would be attackers of your innocence. If you are so vehement about it then perhaps you should go into politics and deem that a GST is good for a nations economy LOL.
Anyway, if I have wrongly accused you of being a nasty-pasty software pirater, then I am sorry, but if you are a nasty-pasty software pirate, I hope you feel guilty.
There I have voiced myself. :frown: :frown:
D'oh - I see that Crosswinds does have a fault, after all.
The reason I don't have a link to these images from the main page is because there's nowhere to put them that coheres to the topic of my page, my plug-in.
Tell ya' what. I'll fix up my page so that there's a link you can follow that shows you these images. One sec.
<pause>
There, go to (url="http://"http://www.crosswinds.net/~spamguy")http://www.crosswinds.net/~spamguy(/url). Disguised on that page are two links; select all text to see them.
If that doesn't work, scream at me again, and I'll fix it...again.
