ALL EVMP DEVELOPERS POST HERE!

Hey there. I don't check the Developer's corner all that often, but I couldn't help but notice all the talk about EVMP from so many different people. I tend to think EVMP could succeed, IF done well.

So I think, "You know, if these people are going to develop EVMP, they ought to get organized or it'll never happen."

Hence this topic. Its simple enough, if you have ideas for EVMP or are interested in developing it, just post in this topic. In this way, all those working on EVMP will know who they are, and will be able to perhaps coordinate their efforts.

Just my little way of trying to help, since I don't know crap about programming. 🙂

UEC

------------------

Heh, your topic is way, way too excited 😉

Relax, I know of two groups that are already working on it. At the very least, progress IS being made.

Just chill.

-CS

Oh man I can't believe BOTH UEC and CS are actually encouraging this! I mean you guys have been here forever, you've seen all these EVMP groups come and go and NOTHING gets accomplished. And I might add this last attempt is even WORSE than the others, your "group" admitted that NONE of them even had programming experience. COME ON, you think that you can create a GAME by figuring out how it will be played?!?! This ain't no RPG fellas, there is a little bit more involved in an actually computer game. MBurch must just kill his gut laughing whenever he sees these things, what you think that Ambrosia decided not to create an EVMP because they are power hungry grouches that don't like to give players what they want?? You might want to stop before you waste 2 months of your lifes.

Dragon

------------------

Heh, Dragon, I can understand your pessimism, and its not a bad thing.

True, groups have tried before, and nothing has happened.

But who knows. As people grow wiser, and people come along with new ideas, perhaps something can happen.

After all, who's to say this time it doesn't work...?

-CS

To tell you the truth, I'd rather have a working EVO Edit program than a Net EVO.

Dan! The food's gone!

I agree with Thursday. A working EV(O)-Edit would be very nice.

Check out the topic: Calculating velocities
It's the best EVMP attempt I've seen

Eytee

Its called Res Edit.

If you can't deal with that, why are you trying to make plugs? I admit, its hard, but it'd be buggy as hell anyways. So, deal with it.

Who says it'd be buggy as hell? Just because the last one was doesn't mean the next one will be. You've tried Pontus's EV:O Developers Map for sure, right? It's very nice and non-buggy; maybe we could get Pontus to expand it (probably not)? But at the least, it shows non-buggy editors could be made. Lots of people might have good ideas and graphics but can't do/do quickly enough all te ResEdit work needed to make it into a full plug.

You really want an EV:O editor? Well, I could make one. It'd be shareware like EV Edit, though not as buggy (cause I know the correct resource numbers etc) and it wont have the really annoying delay box, cause I'm like that.

So, what do you think is a resonable fee? $5?

Personally, I use resourcer for plugins, but I'd like an idea of the size of the audiance for it.

OK Blackhole. You sure you can make an editor. Fine. Make it like this:
I always noticed that EV-Edit is probably the easiest editor to use, but it does not edit EVERYTHING (landing oicts, for instance). Res-Edit takes a lot of learning, but it is effective. Make a mixture. As good as Res-Edit and as easy as EV-Edit, and I'll send you Ł10 (that's about $14-$15). Deal?

My name is Gavin, and don't you ever forget that.

At the current moment, there is one tpoic that is still active, untitled "Multiplayer Possibilities And Solutions", created by Zitchas (me) 🙂
It has covered more or less the entire feild of sugestions and has one member (kberg) who is coding something. I'm not sure if it is actually EVOMP, or a single player version to test, but he is actually coding. I sugest develpers read that topic, then mail him so you can co-ordinate your efforts.
