Lack of documentation?

I'm seriously having trouble finding info about STR#s.. Specifically, how the hell does one know what matches up with what?

The EVO Bible is seriously lacking in the TR (Total Replacement) department - everything is geared as if you are only adding to EVO..

Also, where's the online bible? Kellaarn(sp?) had it, IIRC..

Just do what we had to do on Nova, look at EVO and figure out what goes where then just do a direct replace. It kind of sucks, but hey, it worked...

Personally, I don't use Strs. I just copy the entire STR# over, and change it.

Although I'm making a full conversion plug, so that's why.

Maybe I should call.

Good 'nuff, I guess. What about the outfit/ship names? How does override know when you stop with weapons and start with ships, or something?

Actually, I think there's a bug in EV (don't know about EVO) that makes it behave strangely when you have replacement STR# resources in a plugin. As for how does override know the demarcation between different resource type strings, it has to do with ID#s, i.e. x through x+63 is ship names, and x+64 through x+127 is weapons, or something of that sort.

There's a complete guide to STR# resources in the Annotated EVO Bible - get it at (url="http://"http://lemmings.tsx.org")lemmings.tsx.org(/url) .

Well the STR#s do all have names which should be vaguely useful. If you're serious about 'Total Replacement' (as I was), then you may as well do now what you'll have to do at some point - get down into the guts of it, mess about, and see what happens (ah, you people with the luxuries of templates and bibles - I remember ... but I'll shut up now).

Still, if you have any specific problems ...

I would agree with most of these people... You just have to get in there and play around with it and learn it
