Loose ends.

I've now finished PoG (of course, it's an excellent game, but the Guardian was a wimp) and I've managed to finish most of the sub-quests and boost my stats (those puny giants die after just four strikes from my sword!), but there are a few loose ends I'm trying to tie up:

- The termite farm. I can't work out what it is, why it's there, what happens when you buy termites or where they are delivered. Please could someone tell me whether it actually does anything in the game or whether it's just pointless.

- The Queen's brother. Is there anything in the game that involves him? Is his story just pointless?

- The trolls' lair and the termites' lair/hive thing. I've been to both of these places and enjoyed killing them to get the XP, but do they have any actual function in the game? Is there any reason why you'd need to go there?

I know that the answer to the questions might be that these are simply loose ends thrown in so that people can make plug-ins, but if anyone has any other answers, I'd love to know...

-The Termite Farm: This is an open end for a plugin. Currently it has no practical application.

-The Queen's Brother: As far as I know nothing happens of it.

-Lairs: Those are just to enhance the map and make it more realistic (hey, termites can't be spawned out of thin air!)

what about that monk who won't stop moaning.

I think the monk is just part of the exposition phase, to give us an idea of the mind set of the people of the land. It does seem a little odd though, that no one else makes mention of the gods and their neglect. As I recall, no one I've met has mentioned the gods at all (of course, I haven't finished the game yet.)

Two theories have I. The first reminds me of the old joke about what priests wear
under their robes. I don't think I'll explore this theory much further... 🙂

Theory 2 involves the use of metaphor. The "gods" are the people of the Beenox company,
and their "neglect" has to do with the release of the Coldstone project. When POG first
came out we all had to wait a while for them to release Coldstone and thus be able to
create plug-ins, etc.

Now that Coldstone has been released I am expecting a plug-in to come out that makes the
monk all happy and praising the "gods" for their attentions.

If I don't see this I'll just assume that my first theory was correct.
