I have been browsing through the Plugin archives here, and can't seem to find anything that helps you find the good ones. Is there a web site where they have a huge listing of plugins categorized by what they are, and points out good ones?
------------------ -C#
Just go to the EVO plugins, and click on ratings or amount of downloads. Perhaps you won't find the newest, but most of the very best should be listed.
But is there a better organized site? Like, with a page of plugins in one series, and apage with other series, and then saying which ones are good, and you should have?
I doubt it, but then again, I seem to remember a guy who'd made a website, where he had categorized the various plugins. I did a brief search, but can't find his post. Perhaps he'll respond if he sees this topic.
I guess it depends on your definition of good. Good battles? Good plot? I have played the following, and enjoyed them all. Each is unique from the others, and most are rated pretty high on the Addons Page.
Frozen Heart Femme Fatale Babylon 5 Fourth Reich Reign of UE Empire, War without End F-25
------------------ Sorry, I don't do Windows.
Frozen Heart and Femme Fatale are both incredibly well-done.
Speaking of FH, has anyone heard anything more about FH2? I seem to recall Martin posting something like feature requests or something... Just wondering.

FH2 is Frozen Heart for Nova, but wid a difference. FH and FF are going to be combined, I also believe that there is going to be a new plotline. Many of the things described in the First FH are going to become a reality in the new engine. And I hope that Martin will be adding custom ships as well as custom graphics. That was the only dissapointment in his plug. :frown:

I wasn't dissapointed. But then, I am a Newbie to Plugins and their available graphics.

Well, I've seen way to many TC's that used the stock EVC ships, if that had been the first or second Plugin I'd tried then I might not have minded, but instead I think that MTurner should make custom ships.

You are right. The plug in is excellent, the ships should be above par. I defer to your knowledge and expertise.
Actually, I'd rather see the story, graphics, and overall feel done right, than have them half-arsed but with excellent ships... but that's just me.

Im pretty sure the Frozen Heart was all custom made graphics, some of the ships may have looked slightly like one's from EVC, but they were original creations made by Martin. Some of them even banked, which at the time, I found quite impressive.
FH2 Will have custom made ships aswell.

I agree. No amount of superb graphics will make up for crap gameplay, but good eye candy's always a nice bonus

I know that it had custom graphics, and the banks were totally awsome. But the ships themselves, not the graphics, were just stock EV ships with some minor changes.

OK! I just got Frozen Heart, and I like it. The only thing is, it is one storyline that is really the only thing to do. Does anyone make plugins that have a more Ambrosia EV feel, with many storylines, or that allows you to just do whatever and have fun doing it?

I don't think there is, as it was based on the guy's novel, and follows a strictish plotline. It would seem somehow wrong to change the universe somehow outside of that. You should read the novel though, it's quite good, but I don't have a link at the moment.

Ok. that makes sense.
I have decided that since there is no good plugin site that I can find, I will make it myself. Anyone who can send me a list of plugins they think are good, and can tell me why and where to get them, email them to me at (url="http://"mailto:haskins_sam@yahoo.com")mailto:haskins_sam@yahoo.com(/url)haskins_sam@yahoo.com
The address for the site is (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/evplugins")www.geocities.com/evplugins(/url) , and you can now email also to (url="http://"mailto:evplugins@yahoo.com")mailto:evplugins@yahoo.com(/url)evplugins@yahoo.com
Actually the only ships that were similar to the original EV ones were those unimportant to the plot, either because you couldn't buy them, or shouldn't need them, or because they never cropped up in the missions. Femme Fatale introduced a bunch of new ships.
However, aside from handling ships exist in as part of an overall context. If you introduce just a couple of new ships, you change the balance of the game.
FH actually has quite a number of sub-plots, which you can pick up at various points along the way, do in different orders etc. They do - though - come together from time to time so that you can't progress unless you've completed a couple of apparently unrelated strands. This is mainly about ensuring that these missions are challenging - you wouldn't want to be allowed to go back with some amazing mega-ship and blast your way through a mission which should require thought and tact.
As far as FH2 is concerned, a couple of people have seen bits of it. I've redone all the graphics for 16 bit - some of them look like the original FH graphics, while others are totally changed. The major missions stay the same, but there are a bunch of minor strings which are based on planets, or ships, or months of the year, or walking into the outfitters at just the wrong moment. I've been trying to push the boundaries of what's possible, although only in ways that will actually make the player sit up and take notice - I'm not really into constructing elaborate bit counters unless there's a payoff where the player says 'wow' at the end.

Mr. Turner, Frozen Heart was absolutely, hands down, the best plug. I even read the novel. Wow!

I'm sure Martin's prowress in making FH2 will leave you unable to 'wow' at the end. Such is his power to leave you inn awe.
