However, the forces of Skrahd were not less trained, and just as trained as those in the Ikrahd systems. The Akrahd hit the ZSN hard with their heavy railgun fire, which proved quite effective against the ZSN.
The Akrahd and ZSN dueled it out, the Akrahd taking less losses than the ZSN expected, however, suddenly, the Akrahd vessels all pulled out. They retreated back towards Akrahd, and left the ZSN to deal with the two large battlestations.
-----------------
The Edien warfleet in the New Galaxy was now ready for its next strike; once again at the Horoth. Specifically, the system of Mar'Nath.
As the Edien warfleet of 1,000 vessels enterd Mar'Nath, they were instantly confronted by a massive field of Horoth Sub-Space Mines. However, the Ediens had grown quite accustomed to dealing with such problems.
The Ediens now activated a special devcie known to the Ediens as "The Mine Buster", which create a wide-range sub-space field. The sub-space field then works as a repulsor; pushing away and detonating all nearby mines.
As the Horoth watched as their minefield was easily pushed out of the way by the Ediens, the Horoth commander did something that probably saved the whole New Galaxy. Before the battle even started, he sent a priority one distress call to the Horoth and Kayans, informing them of the situation.
He did it just in time, for the Ediens easily obliterated the relatively small Horoth defense fleet, and within just minutes, the colony was totally obliterated.
But little did the Ediens know that their secret, was no longer a secret...

(Message to All Races) (High Band Transmission) (From Horoth Military Command) (I know this may come as a shock to many of you, and many will not believe what we say, but it is the truth; the Ediens have invaded the Milky Way, and already the RA have suffered from the wrath of them. We have lost two colonies ourselves. We don't know what we'll do, but we suggest a meeting on New Kayia to discuss our options. May fortune favor us.) (End Message)

OOC: I'll be gone for 3 days, starting today, and I'll get back on Sunday afternoon. Esponer, go ahead with the Coalition Background Development. And guys, you can build up some forces, but the Ediens are right now just holding their own space and won't be attacking for a while. However, Esponer, if you want, you can write a post about the Ediens attacking Antneb.
After a short comm. conversation, it is finally proven to REDchigh that it WAS the Ediens that devastated their bases. An Arada is quickly sent to New Kayia for the meeting, and most of RA the RA planets are armed.. yes, armed. High-Yield thermo-nuclear explosives are buried deep within the crust of the planets, and in the center of the stations, and they do everything that can to make them undetectable to Edien attackers. The evacuees make homestead on a few planets that border Kayan space, and with the bulk of their remaining navy in about 4 or 5 systems, they should be fairly well off.
Message to: Kayans and Horoth From: RA Greetings. We know you are aware of the Edien Incursion into the New Galaxy. We were already working on a powerful new ship, and, although it's development was based at Rigel, the plans were saved. Although with help, this ship class could be the savior of our galaxy, the RA no longer have the resorces to complete it, with your help it could be stronger than originally planned, and could be finished more quickly. The original stats are included with this message, highly encrypted. This may be a wild shot, but maybe if you two worked together, you could blend Horoth mine technology with Kayan defense drones, to make the drones explode violently seconds before it's armor depletes or runs out of ammo. just an idea. The disasters of recent events had effect even on the Kayan capital of New Kayia, one of the most well defended sectors in the Large Megellanic Cloud. The Kayans were restless, and concerned, if not outright frightened. Several thousand Kayans were already considering leaving New Kayia, to head for the relative safety of the Federation borders in the Milky Way. The economic effects had already been felt. With the Renegade Alliance scattered to the winds by the Edien invasion, trade was suffering. The refugee races of the Large Megellanic Cloud all relied on each other. The Kayans had always been a race who held much value in ornamental designs, and the Renegade Alliance had long been their supplier of such, through their organically grown silver, with itÂ’s magnified beauty and strength, that had been known among many of the Kayans as true mythril , as it so closely linked with the legends of mythril , a human legend that had inspired the KayanÂ’s imaginations. Now, without the imports from the Renegade Alliance, the economy was struggling. Of course, the Kayan government was doing all it could to keep everyone calm, but still, fear was everywhere, and the atmosphere all over the Large Megellanic Cloud was tense.
Is was thus that the First Silver came to New Kayia, a Miranu Nighthawk warship like none other. The First SilverÂ’s captain was none other than Rima of the Miranu, returned with haste from the Milky Way to see to the current threat from the Edien. The vessel glided down with great grace through the atmosphere of New Kayia. Only four other ships occupied the skies around; two Kayan gunships leaving on a patrol of the border, a Miranu freighter moving down to land at the trade docks, and a Starglider, itÂ’s captain on a business of his or her own. Otherwise, the skies were clear - eerily clear, indeed. The entire planet seemed somewhat silent, rather than in a panic. If the Kayans were in a panic, they did not show it outwardly.
The First Silver set down softly on the VIP docks just outside the large, functional building that served as the command centre for Kayan diplomatic operations. As the ship powered down, a long silver landing bridge extended outwards, touching the docking platform, and a barely noticeable door in the hull opened.
Rima stepped out gracefully, followed by two other Miranu, one of whom was Kenra. A Kayan diplomat greeted them.
“My Lady Rima, it is an honour to see you here once more. May I show you to the meeting chambers?” the diplomat asked, bowing politely, with a faint smile on his face. The lieutenant behind him showed no outward emotion.
“If you would be so kind,” Rima replied with a faint smile, and the diplomat quickly led her across the docks, and into the command centre.
------------------------------------------
The meeting chamber was a large room, but very bare, as was to be expected of the Kayans. It was also a wise move - many complaints had arisen during the last meeting of more than two governments at New Kayia over the decor. A long, slightly oval table made of a smooth white material sat in the centre of the chamber. At the head of the table sat Thunder of the Kayans, who would act as the head of this meeting. He was a powerful man, yet in wisdom more than in strength. Many respected him, even the Strands.
Emperor Tasina of the Azdgari was already present. Apparently, he had flown as fast as the stars would let him, aboard an Azdara he called his own, and with only four escort Azdaras at his wings. He was an intelligent man; loud and insistent at times, and quiet and collecting at others. He made an excellent Azdgari.
Rima of the Miranu sat opposite him, deep in thought. She had spoken barely a word since entering the chamber, except for quiet conferring with her advisors.
Redchigh of the Renegade Alliance was present, to represent his people, even though they were all but destroyed now. He was hardly a well tempered man at his best, and after the EdienÂ’s effortless defeat of his forces, he had taken a turn for the worse. It was said that he had come across some difficulty even finding two advisors to sit beside him.
The Horoth also were present, seeming strangely out of place in a meeting chamber made over the years to suit the needs of the all of the refugee races. They were, however, quite confident of themselves, and held a commanding presence, despite their recent defeats against the Edien.
The only race not yet present was the Strand League. They had yet to arrive. Thunder looked around the table impatiently, and then sighed. He was considering starting the meeting without the presence of the Strand League.
It was then that a Kayan lieutenant appeared at the doorway. “President Thunder, the Strand League have arrived. Shall I show them in?”
Thunder looked up. “With all haste!” he replied impatiently.
Two minutes later, without further ado, the Strand League representatives entered. Silverdragon, no longer Emperor of the Igadzra Union, and now instead High Councillor of the Strand League, stepped in, holding himself high. As an Igadzra, he was the physically the most powerful race there, and despite having a considerable number of years on his back, he was still strong.
The two advisors at his side gained some attention, however. At his left hand side was a figure looking only vaguely Igadzra, dressed plainly in black and white. His skin was pale, and his build was slimmer than that of an Igadzra.
One of the Azdgari advisors scowled, and many others looked disapproving. Only the race leaders and the Kayans, who were on good terms with his kind, did not seem to mind much about this figureÂ’s race.
He was a Strandless, forsaken by Gadzair or by the Strands. His name was Evaniol, and some controversy surrounded his position as supreme commander of the Igadzra Grand Naval Arm.
The figure to Silverdragon’s right also caused some mention. They had been expecting Aldaris, supreme commander of the Zidagar Space Navy and also the token leader of the Zidagar, to have attended as an advisor. The figure who stood at Silverdragon’s right was not Aldaris, however. He too was not plainly of any race; he looked somewhat Zidagar, but his skin was paler, almost cream in colour, and his body shape was considerably different to the semi-reptilian Zidagar. This man was known as Corsair, and he was the second-in-command of the Zidagar Space Navy, and Aldaris’ faithful “lieutenant”. His father had been an Igadzra, but his mother a human.
Silverdragon took a seat left of the Miranu party, facing the Horoth party. Evaniol quickly sat down with him, but Corsair stood for a few moments, weighing up the characters around him, and making several uneasy, before seating himself.
After another moment, Thunder stood. The light from the star of Galactica shone through the window behind him, and his wisened face held a commanding power.
“We are here today to address the matter of the Edien invaders, as I am sure you are all aware,” Thunder began, fixing first Tasina, then Rima, Redchigh, Silverdragon and finally RMA of the Horoth, with his eyes. “The Edien were first seen attacking the Renegade Alliance system of Cetax, but at that time we did not know of them. They then destroyed Rigel, and the surrounding systems. Only know, with the Edien assualting the Horoth border-systems, do we fully understand the situation. My friends, we are the victims of a full scale attack. As many as two thousand Edien vessels have entered the Large Megellanic Cloud.”
The scene was deathly quiet. Everyone knew how devastating two thousand Ediens could be. Only Silverdragon of the Strand League had led much of a decisive victory against them, and that was in the test battle of the IXD, under the protection of the Federation ranks. Even then, the costs needed to put such ships on the battlefield had been extensive, and would not have been possible without Federation funding.
“So, my friends,” Thunder continued, “we have no choice. No further discussion is required. We have only one option. We must band together, to fend off the Ediens. Only working together do we have any chance of victory.”
“If I may speak?” Silverdragon asked politely. Thunder nodded, and Silverdragon began. “Four months ago the Igadzra Union sent a force into the Milky Way, and with the help of the Federations, we created the IXD, an anti-Edien division of the Igadzra. Since then, the IXD have been relatively inactive, and we cannot hope for any reinforcements from them, I’m afraid. However, we have a rundown of all IXD technologies, weaponry, and ship specifications. If we were to work together, it might be possible to assemble a hunter-killer team of the IXD.”
“That’s all very well,” Tasina put in, “but we don’t have that sort of time against the Ediens, and anyway, to whose control would these vessels go? And could any but Igadzra build them? We do not have time to learn your ways of construction.”
“There is time yet, and there is hope also,” Silverdragon replied. “In addition, we have recently recovered the Nightmare by covert means from Lars Magna. We have some plans for that vessel.”
“Ahh...Lars Magna. And to whose side do you think he will show allegiance?” Thunder asked to the group. “If he was to side against us, we would indeed be in a dilemna.
“Pirates such as Lars Magna are not loyal,” Rima put in. “I believe he will aid both sides before this is done.”
Redchigh nodded slightly, in full knowledge of the pirates, after having fought them often. He, however, seemed more interested in Silverdragon’s comment about the Nightmare. “Tell me, SilverDragon, what will you do to the Nightmare?”
Evaniol grinned broadly. “We’re going to outfit it with IXD weaponry and systems, and turn it into the perfect weapon. We already know that on a good day an IXD Executor, built in the frame of an Igazra, can wipe the floor with an Edien Battlecruiser. The Nightmare , to be renamed the Executioner , will be a match for anything the Ediens can throw at us.”
“And who will captain this vessel?” Redchigh asked curiously.
“That honour will go to no man here, but instead to an Igadzra of much value to us, and myself personally,” Silverdragon replied calmly.
“This news puts some light on the Edien invasion,” one Horoth replied, “but still, the situation is dire. We must form together, at least temporarily. However, if I may ask; what of the Akrahd?”
Evaniol nearly growled, and Silverdragon seemed somewhat annoyed also. Corsair’s eyes darkened in colour, but otherwise he showed no other sign. It was Evaniol who eventually spoke. “The Akrahd are our enemies. We had to call off our attack to attend this meeting, but we fully attend to destroy them once this matter is over.”
“I’m afraid that is the truth,” Silverdragon sighed. “The Akrahd and us can never be allies. Our people would rather fall on their blades than see a day when the Akrahd and the Igadzra are friends.”
“You need not be friends, but this matter is dire, as the Horoth well speaks. There is no room for internal emnities, Silverdragon of the Igadzra. You must put those aside, and not mention them until this is over,” Thunder stated.
Silverdragon sighed. “I will do whatever I must, or can. But the effects this may have on my people... I cannot predict.”
Thunder nodded, satisfied. He then addressed the table again. “So it is decided. The Coalition must be formed. Once this meet is over, word will be sent to the Akrahd. I ask that you all stay long enough to finalise matters with the Akrahd.”
The matter was over already, but much minor talk broke out, not all positive. The Kayans present acted as peacekeepers, preventing any arguments from becoming too heated. But mostly, the situation was civil.
Half an hour later, a Kayan official entered the chambers, and handed a datapad to Thunder. Words quickly passed between the two, and then Thunder stood.
“These are the agreements that we abide to. If there are any problems, speak now, or do not speak at all,” Thunder proncounced. He then began speaking, reading from the datapad.
Quote
The Agreements of the Coalition: **1) No military vessel belonging to the Kayans, Azdgari, Miranu, Renegade Alliance, Horoth or Strand League may fire on any vessel counted as a citizen of any of the mentioned races. 2) No military vessel commanded by the militaries of your races and governments may intentionally fire upon the military vessel of another race and government. 3) No military vessel commanded by the militaries of your races and governments may board and investigate another the government vessel of any other Coalition members without having received agreement from the leader of that race. No government ship may be detained without such conferring. 4) No legal actions may be taken against citizens of any other governments within the Coalition directly by the government victim of the crime. Each citizen shall be tried by their own government, in accordance with the laws of the land they were in at the time. 5) The movements of all military vessels of every race under the Coalition must be accounted for, and known to the leaders of every race under the Coalition. All military movements can only take place when a unanimous agreement is made by all Coalition leaders, and will be supervised by an official for each government under the Coaltion. 6) All agreements made by Coalition must be unanimous, and each race has the same voting power. The Strand League have one voting right, like all other races, and no government will be bestowed with the power of veto. 7) When any government under the Coalition comes under attack, unless otherwise decided unanimously in council, each other government has an obligation to provide military and economical support. No government under the Coalition is required to surrender their technological secrets, unless in the greatest of needs. 9) No government under the Coalition may retreat from the CoalitionÂ’s agreement until the matter is OVER, and in unanimous agreement the Coalition leaders decide the Ediens have been defeated. 10) All agreements end upon the decision that the Ediens have been defeated, and the Coalition itself ends. **
“That’s an awfully slow system,” complained Tasina. “If we can’t even prosecute the guilty without having to gain ‘permission’...”
“That is not so,” replied one Kayan. “You may prosecute any Azdgari or citizen of the Azdgari, which will account for almost any crimes that take place. It is only for the trade captains unaccustomed to the laws of their destination that we include this.”
“I have a question,” Corsair said suddenly.
Thunder turned his eyes to him. “Yes?”
“Once we have defeated the Ediens,” Corsair began confidently, “what would be the result of one government declaring the battle to not be over. Am I right that the Coalition would then be sustained?”
“That is the case,” Thunder replied, “although that is a very unlikely act, and whomever might attempt that would surely see reason.”
“I can but wonder, with all due respect, if it were come to pass that the Kayans decided to sustain the Coalition, that they hold such command over,” Corsair noted dryly.
“Very well,” Thunder sighed. “We shall change that requirement to state that a majority vote only will be needed to decide that the Ediens are defeated.”
“About agreement number eight...” Redchigh began. “Can we assume the situation now requires for the Kayan tachyonic generator to be supplied to all Coalition systems? It is our best defence against the Ediens, for all we know.”
“That matter is not decided,” Thunder replied plainly. “At a later date, we may make the tachyonic generator, our closest secret, more available. But we would in turn need the secrets of the other races, to show that we are all equal in this.”
“And what of the IXD technologies?” another Renegade Alliance representative asked.
Silverdragon was the one to reply. “IXD technologies will be made available to all races within the Coalition that would not need too much teaching and changing to be able to build them. This includes the Kayans and Miranu only, I’m afraid. The Azdgari and Horoth shipyards would not be equipped to build IXD vessels, nor would they know how, and the Renegade Alliance... well... does not have the resources.”
The questions rolled on, but in the end the Pact of the Coalition was mostly kept the same, other than the change to point ten. Then, each of the Coalition leaders was required to sign in a different colour upon a black tablet. Six copies would have to be made, and a seventh if the Akrahd joined the Coalition, so that each government held their own official version.
Within four days, IXD designs were sent to the Kayans and Miranu, along with a group of Igadzra to teach those respective governments how to build IXD vessels, if they saw the need. Meanwhile, the Nightmare was refitted, and became the Executioner , the flagship of the IXD, to be captained by none other than Tassar, the Igadzra who had saved Silverdragon from death against Lars Magna only a month ago.
And thus, the Coalition had begun. Where it would lead, yet no-one knew.

Just a couple things to note -
1. There is, at the moment, only one tachyonic generator, which would make "sharing" difficult.
2. The Kayans wouldn't be overbearing and have absolutely no desire for galactic domination. More likely they'd let leaders work together to make up rules for a coalition, and they'd leadership position if asked, but wouldn't demand it. Still, I know how difficult it is to write something involving multiple players, keep everyone happy, and still make for a good plot, so I won't complain too much.

An Edien warfleet, composed of 500 vessels, had been assembled at Barah, and was now preparing for the primary assault on the Azdgari world of Osara Minor. The fleet would jump in, attack, and finish off the colony while another 500 ships waiting for them at NSI-8219.
Jumping out from Barah, the Edien warfleet quickly passed through the base at NSI-8219, and then entered Butron.
This was where their problems began.
A large Azdgari patrol fleet was there, and when they sighted the Ediens, they immediately sent a message out to Deneba and Galactica, informing the Azdgari and Kayans about the Edien fleet.
The Ediens were then forced to chase the Azdgari throughout the Burtron system, which took up far too much of their time. When they finally did destroy the Azdgari, they paused and waitied for new orders from Admiral H'nanta. Those orders came, and they proceeded on towards Osara Minor.
But they had lost the element of surprise, and they had wasted too much time, during which the enemy could have already assembled a fleet to try and stop them...
Message to: All races with peaceful relations to the RA From: REDchigh After much thought and consideration, it has been decided that the RA NAvy will be MUCH more effective without being streched defending systems- We have come to a decision to become nomadic- defending anyone in need and scouting Edien or Akrahd fleet movements. We will gladly give planets to our allies, for any kind of help they could give us in this endeaver- scanners, ships, weapons, any ship hull large enough to work as a modile shipyard facility, anything at all. We would be able to accomplish so much more this way, with a much less chance of being caught off guard. End
Thunder recieved the message from the RA with some degree of sorrow. The Renegades had always been close allies of the Kayans, even having been part of the same government for a short time in the Milky Way, before the exodus. They had suffered the most intense blow from the Edien invasion, and even though other governments had come to their aid, their space had been devistated. Thunder knew someting hd to be done. Immediately he called in his closest advisers. "I assume you've read this message?" he asked them. Recieving positive responses, he continued. "The renegades have been our friends ever sincewe stopped squabbling a decade ago, and the Kayan Alliance is nothing if not loyal to its allies. Let's see what we can do to help."
An hour of intense speculation, discussion, and analysis followed, before a final decision was reached. Thunder walked over to his personal communications console, opening a comm channel.
Message to the RA, diplomatic encryption Point of origin - Office of the Prime Minister - New Kayia
The Kayan Alliance is saddened to hear that your space has been ravaged to the extent that it has. If you feel that your plan to become nomadic is the only way to proceed, then we will help you as best we can. We offer to help you to protect your former land. We will, if you wish, extend our patrols to take on the systems of Regula Major and Minor as Kayan protectorates. We would maintain military and shipbuilding facilities (to which you would have access) on these worlds, and attempt to ensure the safety of any civilians that want to stay behind. Of course, this will only be if you give us permission - though we think it is in both our best interests to preserve as many of our worlds as possible - more shipyards mean more ships to fight the Edien menace. Unfortunately we can't extend the same offer to the system of Centaur, it is too far from our borders to be practical. Please reply if you accept our offer.
Whatever your decision, your people will always be welcome in Kayan space, and we will repair, refuel, and house any of your ships, both military and civilian. Also, we have fertile farmland on many of our worlds, in excess of the amount we need to sustain our population. If you need some farmland to grow your organic silver, I'm sure we can find space.
Thunder out.
Message ends
An Edien warfleet, 500 ships in number, jumped into the last RA colony; Regula Major.
The fleet opened fire, but suddenly met the first sign of coalition strength; the RA fleet was supported by Miranu, Azdgari, and Kayan fleets.
The Coalition forces in the system charged the Ediens, trying to give the last RA refugees time to evacuate the planet. The Kayans and Azdgari charged while the Miranu pummelled the Ediens from afar. Their combined power, along with the still formidable RA fleet, pushed back the Ediens, and soon the enemy fleet had jumped out.
But history has a way of repeating itself.
The remaining 250 Edien warships jumped back in, but this time they were supported by another 500 warships. The Coalition was outgunned, and their fleet began to scatter and run in total chaos.
It was the (url="http://"http://www.carnotaurhq.com/golden_horizon/info/other_info/famous_battles.html")Battle of Ursla(/url) all over again.
As the Coalition forces retreated back towards Kayan space, the last of the RA refugees just made it off the planet, but many frieghters were still shot down, and their burning and exploding hulks added to the desolation of the once glorious RA space.
With the enemy forces out of the way, the Ediens began to bombard the planet, but upon hearing that there may be trouble in the Azdgari sector, they left and return to Pirate space...

Admiral Vershaw paced around the meeting room, his hands behind his back, his phase-neutron rifle ready. Thunder was sitting in a chair next to the meeting room, and both of them were waiting for a report from Admiral Sa'raiy. Sa'raiy was in charge of defending the Azdgari fringe, and she had not been heard from ever since the Ediens had been sighted approaching Azdgari space.
"Where is she?!" Vershaw grumbled impatiently. He was the Azdgari admiral put in charge of the Azdgari-coordination in the Coalition. "We should have heard from her hours ago!"
"Don't worry Vershaw, she'll contact us," Thunder replied.
"I don't care! I say that my fleet departs to the Deneba Sector immediately! There's no use for my ships here!"
"Yes there is, an important one; the Kayans are high on the list for Edien targets, and if we are taken out, the New Galaxy is in trouble. If we can survive, the Ediens plan will fail, because their supply lines will constantly be threatened."
Vershaw continued grumbling, and suddenly two Azdgari pilots ran in. One saluted. "Admiral, I am Captain Zakaer. I have word from Sa'iary; she says that she wants as much help up in Osara Minor as possible. She thinks the Ediens are targetting it. Communications were suddenly jammed, so we can't tell you any more."
Vershaw stopped pacing then turned to Thunder. "President, permission to take my ships and a fleet of Kayan vessels to aid Admiral Sa'iary. I think she's in danger. I've got to help my own people."
"This wouldn't have anything to do with Sa'iary being your neice, would it?" Thunder asked jokingly, but Vershaw remained still.
Thunder sighed. "Very well. Take your fleet and the 9th Kayan fleet, and go help Sa'iary. I do admit that the Azdgari are quite powerful, and we can't have them fall."
Vershaw saluted. "Thank you sir!" Then he and the other two Azdgari soldiers quickly rushed off to their ships...
--------------------
OOC: Thunder, you can continue and say what Vershaw and your fleet did and went and stuff. Just remember that by the time you get to Osara Minor, the Ediens will have already engaged the Azdgari.
That seriously annoys me, Carnotaur. You have this way of screwing up my work on this finale you want me to do, don't you? Come on, if you want to keep ruining it; do the thing yourself!!
The Federation fleets had assembled across the Federation border, and now they were ready to strike.
All across the Edien border, the massive Federation fleets jumped in and attacked with ferocity. They were part of Operation Death-Strike; a final hope to try and give a devastating blow to the Edien Empire with a massive surprise assault. If they could simply overwhelm the Ediens on all sides, they would be able to gain a massive tactical victory over their foe.
But the operation still hinged on the success of the Voinians attack on the Ediens in the Zachit Sector. If they failed in their assault towards Hrekka, all would be lost, for the Ediens would then be able to attack the Voinians and reinforce against the Federation.
The fleets in Vethair, Twyus, and Neholl faired the best. Armed with the new and much more effective Quantum Weaponry, the Federation blasted away at the Edien fleets, who were not prepared for such a large assault. Over 100,000 vessels were used in the assault on those three systems, and it payed off.
The assaults, though the Ediens fought back well and with great power, were a success. The Federation now controlled three new systems, and the major base of Zidagar was mostly surrounded.
The invasion could now begin on assaulting Zidagar directly with a massive force, comprised primarily of the 7th Fleet. The assault would bring down a major Edien base, and the biggest base since the fall of the large colony on Igadzra.
But the assaults on Plogok, Chak, and Molar did not go very well.
The Edien fleets in those systems were massive and well prepared. Their defense fleets reacted quickly to the Federation attackers, whom they attacked vicsously. Soon, the Federation fleets in Molar and Plogok were forced to retreat with heavy losses. Only 450 ships, however, escaped from the attack on Chak, for that base was a major military outpost, and quickly crushed the opposing Federate fleets.
Though the attack on the Azdgari sector had been a failure, the Feds had still captured 3 other vital systems, which would help them defeat the Edien empire. However, news had not yet arrived of the Voinians attacks...
The massive Voinian fleets in Kirrim, Kitrak, and Mezt, prepared to battle the Ediens. The fleets in the 3 systems merged into 2, and prepared to hyper out.
ZAP! The two large Voinian warfleets engaged into hyperspace and headed towords Tmidor and Zachet.
BOOM! The first fleet hypered into the Zachit system. The Voinian fleet instantly activated several distruption webs, and the fleet was hidden from few as Edien shoots pinked harmlessly off the energy wall. The Vionian fleet cloaked, but the Ediens could not see through the web. Suddenly, as a favoured tactic, the Voinians decloaked directly in back of the Ediens, and blasted away with Fury. The Ediens were caught off guard, and they issued into choas as the Voinain warships blasted away, and the Support Cruisers fired tons and tons of missiles on the outskirts of the battle.
Almost at the same time, the seconed fleet hypered into Tmidor. They had a different stratagy, though....
They Voinian fleet instantly cloaked. The Ediens waited, and waited, and waited. Suddenly, the Voinian armada decloaked in the back and to the sides of the Ediens. The Support Cruisers fired their distruption webs, and encased tons of Edien Vessels. The Voinians cloaked yet again and re appeared in the midsts of the Edien fleet!
They charged in at the Ediens, weapons blazing. The Support Cruisers, with their hundreds of missiles, decloaked in the only opening the the giant web, and opened fire with a wave of missiles at the Ediens.

Come on guys! Posty posty!
Zachit... The Ediens attacked the Voinians with a huge barrage of missiles. Suddenly, they dissapeared again. "Arggg!"Yelled the commander of the system."Whats with the cloaks?"The Fleet uncloaked and slammed into the back of the Ediens. The Ediens knew that they would lose but fought on. As soon as The Voinians cloaked again, the now small fleet of Ediens jumped out to the system of Hrekka... ---------- Tmidor The Ediens were trapped. There was no escape. They knew this now. All Edien ships fought and fought until there was not one ship left. Then, the Ediens on the planet would shoot any ship landing. This didn't help a whole lot, but it helped some. ------------------ Never pet a burning dog. ------------------ Come visit (url="http://"http://nova6.pautsch.com/forum/intro.lasso")Nova6s Webboards(/url).

In the Zachit system, the Voinians were closing in on the Edien Battlestation. But the Ediens would not give up that base so easily.
As the Voinians charged ahead, a massive Edien fleet jumped in and opened fire. They were from a nearby system, and were essentially disobeying orders. As the Voinians fought forward valiantly, they suddenly ran into a wave of quantum torpedoes. The Voinians cloaked, but they were unable to evade the torpedoes, many of which hit cloaked vessels, and others which simply detonated.
The Voinians were forced to decloak and fight it out with the Ediens head-to-head. They had a larger fleet, but it would be a bloody battle nonetheless.
As Edien reinforcements slowly trickled in, the massive charges of Voinian fighter waves moved in, their guns ablaze, many Edien ships fell, but soon the fighters were torn apart by anti-proton fire and ion beams. As a massive group of frigates tried to out-flank the Ediens, the Voinians suddenly found themselves being flanked.
Desperate, the bulk of the Voinian fleet charged the group of enemy destroyers, annihilating them is an unholy amount of primary weapons fire. As the Voinians turned around, they now saw that a large group of battlecruisers had come between them and the frigate group.
They had no choice; they charged into the massive array of quantum torpedoes and anti-proton fire as the Voinians fired back with their own weaponry.
The battlecruisers were finally pushed off, but with dire losses. The battle raged on and on, and soon, as the Edien fleet numbers began to dwindle quickly, the Edien battlestation in the system opened up with its own deadly fusillade.
As Support Cruisers tried to flank the Ediens and pound them with long-range weaponry, the Ediens charged the cruisers with large waves of Edien Interceptors. The Interceptors, however, ran into a disruption web. However, the Ediens then did something the Voinians couldn't counter easily.
Relying on the speed of their interceptors, the Ediens moved around the web of energy lightning fast and pounced on the Support cruisers. Many Edien Interceptors fell, but the Ediens were just barely able to chase off the support cruisers.
As frigates started to ram the battlestation, all the while, the partially destroyed, battered, and worn Zachit Station looked on from its orbit. Long had it watched battles against the Renegades, and long since had it watched the Ediens, who mostly just ignored the wreckage. Now it looked on as the Voinians battled for that old base, which was incredibly important to the Miranu, and one of the last remnants of the Zacha, who had mostly disappeared. There were a few left in Kayan and Miranu space, but they were little known.
The battle continued on for hours, until finally the Edien battlestation was destroyed, the planetary base captured, and the Ediens drove off. And once again, about 500 Edien vessels managed to escape and run off towards Hrekka.
The Battle of Zachit was over. The Voinians had won.

At the New Kayan science institute, three scientists were in a heated debate. The Kayan militia had assigned them a task, to be completed as quickly as they could. Though they liked a challenge, the scientists were unsure of how to proceed about this particular task. Their job was, if possible, to repair the rift, and close off the exit, which had recently been pinpointed as existing in Kade.
"I don't even think we should try," one scientist said. "We don't know enough about the rift mechanics to go around closing off certain exits. We might close the rift altogether!"
"And I think we've got to try," another of the scientists shouted. "Right now the Ediens have an open door into our galaxy. Our first priority should be to close it. If we could somehow reverse the supernova..."
"Perhaps we're going about it the wrong way," the third said. "Maybe we should be concerned with taking the other end away from the Ediens?" This was something the other scientists hadn't thought of. They agreed, though were skeptical if it could be done.
Within minutes, a message had been sent through the rift to Federation Command.
Message to Federation, scientific community encryption Point of Origin - Room 237 - New Kayan Science Institute - New Kayia
This is Dr. Kia Bayran, speaking on behalf of the New Kayan Science Institute, under direct orders from the Kayan Militia. As you are no doubt ware, the Ediens have attempted an invasion of the New Galaxy, which we and the other refugee governments are currently attempting to fight off. We have managed to locate the rift entrance that they used - in the Kade system. If you can somehow manage to take control of Kade, there will be no way for them to send reinforcements. We realize it may not be militarily possible to assult Kade, but we felt compelled to provide you with this information.

Scorcher looked over the latest military reports from the Edien front. The latest offensives had gone well, but the Ediens were becoming more desperate, and reinforcements would probably soon arrive. They were also stepping up their raids, making it hard to effeciantly organize large fleets when they have to constantly worry about attacking raider squadrons.
Suddenly, Firebird entered the room and handed Scorcher a datapad. "That's the latest report from the Voinians. They say they're closing in on Hrekka."
"It's about time... They've been trying to capture that base for months and they haven't been successful... " Scorcher half-mumbled, looking over the Galactic map.
"Don't blame them; the Miranu sector was hard enough to fully secure, and even harder to deal with the immense amount of resistence the Ediens are giving them."
Scorcher nodded slightly, then smiled. "Firebird, how soon can your fleet be ready?"
"For what?"
"For building an outpost."
"Where? And how would it help us?"
Scorcher pointed to a spot on the galactic map. "In Leka. Block Leka, and the Ediens will be split in two. Plogok is a bit close, but I think you can do it."
Firebird looked at the map for a second, then at Scorcher and smiled. "Very well Admiral. I'll have my fleet ready in two days. As soon as I get to Terapin, I'll move in."
Scorcher nodded as Firebird walked out, but as he left, Admiral Specter walked in. Scorcher stood up. "Admiral Specter; what brings you here?" he asked.
"Business," Specter replied, grinning slightly. He was very well known for being a bit odd and strange at times, and now was no exception. "I came here to show you this..."
He took out a holoprojector, set it on the table, and activated it. The projector then showed a holo-image of what looked like a Pursuit Missile, except it was slightly different colored, was long, and had a totally different internal structure.
"This, is the ShockWave Missile," Specter said proudly. "It is, in capability, a pursuit missile with a warhead as powerful as a space bomb. They are designed for taking out large stations, colonies, and any dreadnaught we might face in the future. However, they can be used against fleets if we want to.
"The warhead works by disrupting sub-space in a very damaging manner, which releases large amounts of energy, but the resulting quantum shockwave seals it. However, at the site of the actual impact, some sub-space distortions remain, causing continued damage to anything near-to or touching that area for the next 10-20 minutes."
Scorcher looked over the designs and grinned. "Very nice work. I was breifed on what the Devastator Project was, but I never really heard a lot about the actual missile. This will indeed help us out a lot. What launches it?"
"Federation Light Cruisers or Federation Battlecruisers, though Battlecruisers will probably be better suited for the job. They're too large to fit in normal launches, so we're desiging a special launcher designed to fire them that fits in the cargo bay. Because they are so expensive, however, we can only fit them on a small handful of Battlecruisers. Each missile is about as powerful as two or three Azdgari Plasma Bombs, depending on how well the sub-space disruption worked."
Scorcher nodded. "Begin immediately. In the meantime, I'm going back to Mira to oversee a few things there."
Specter nodded, picked up his projector, and left...
In the New Galaxy, the Ediens had secretly been assembling a large taskforce of over 1,200 vessels in the Dilgu system. Soon, Lars Magna would lead a strike force of ships to assault the Kayans. In the meantime, the Ediens would take on the Horoth navy.
The job wouldn't be easy. Edien scouts had reported that the Horoth had massive amounts of vessels ready to attack any strike force that approached, and the Ediens special "Mine-Killer" device didn't stop all the mines; some still got through, and they would loose many ships to the vast and ever larger minefields that they would encounter.
The Horath system itself was defended well enough to be almost impenetrable to any force that tried to assault it, but the Ediens were confident that they could take it out if they tried.
The attack would commence as soon as the Ediens had gathered up enough ships, and then... They would strike against the very heart of the Horoth...
----------------
Ever since the first failed attempt to get into the Andromeda galaxy, the Sladerei had been working on perfecting their wormhole generator design, but most importantly, they had focused a lot of attention on improving their targetting scanners, which had failed last time and sent their ships into an Edien system.
As the Horosk Captain Thorin visited Horoth space, amazed at what the Horoth had did in such a short time, the Sladerei had continued working. Then, Thorin returned to Grenits after he decided that Horoth space was not secure enough, especially with the Ediens so near.
Now, the time had come to test the new generator.
Powering up the massive device, the Sladerei Supercruiser Savior powered up then began the formation of the sub-spacial rift. In about half an hour, the wormhole was complete, and Thorin himself, followed by a group of Horoth and Sladerei vessels, entered the wormhole...
....A few minutes later, they came out of hyperspace...
....Into the heart of Horosk Communism territory.
As the Akaida , Thorin's vessel, zoomed into the system towards the Horosk fleet, the Horoth and Sladerei hung back. They were unsure as to how the Horosk would react to them.
The Akaida quickly hailed the Horosk and reported what had happened while Thorin was gone. The Horosk Military Command had thought that Thorin was dead, and that the wormhole was a new Edien weapon.
Although incredibly suspicious of the Sladerei and Horoth, Thorin eventually calmed the rather paranoid Horosk fleet, and soon they were on their way to the capitol; Horosk itself.
As the Sladerei and Horoth entered the Horosk system, they were amazed by what they saw.
A massive system of twenty-four battlestations, armed with dozens of proton turrets, stood in a perimeter around the system. Massive satellites outfitted with huge shield generators created incredibly powerful shield grids around anything they wanted. Mines were deployed throughout the system, hidden safely in sub-space.
The massive cities, tunnels, and highways that spread across the face of Horosk, the homeworld of both the Horoth and Horosk, were amazing. The great cities, all white and shining in the sun, with their massive towers nearly touching the sky.
Horosk was indeed a marvel, a marvel of engineering and of perserverence. For centuries this fortress had stood against countless Edien assaults. Once it had been the only system the Horosk had controlled, but they prevailed. Through countless years the Horosk had improved their defense systems and plans, and for countless ages they had become paranoid and suspicious of all others. The Ediens wanted to kill them, the Rosk had disappeared, andd the Thorosk, their closest ally, brought them no aid. This was because, obviously, that they had been conquered, but by the time the Horosk learned this, it was already to late. Now their only other neighbor, the Rarkyl, who were also suspicious, paranoid, and xenophobic, definitely did not make the Horosk feel any less hated.
Though maybe, maybe, with the help from the peaceful Horoth, the Horosk may one day learn to be friendly, and not filled with suspicious and paranoia...

Soon, surviving RA vessels begin to trickle into the devastated Rigel system. Within hours, almost a dozen fighters arrive and buzz around. Within a day, several Laziras have arrived, with a few fighter swuadrons, and within the week, every available RA ship had arrived- A decent fleet. Although small, these were the most loyal, brave pilots in the Galaxy. These were the last surviving members of the RA... REDchigh was there, piloting a Silver Warship. (I'll let a mod decide how many ships I have). After a lot of debating, they face the facts- they have very few outfitting facilities left. They head towards Kayan space, mourning the whole way, hoping their Kayan friends can give them aid.
