EVN Override playing well?

I'm not sure if this is the correct board for this, but since it involves the EVO scenario, I decided to ask here.

How are people faring with the EVN port?

It takes a quick second to get used to the new ship stats as reported in ship info (speed x2, shields and armor x10), but it behaves relatively the same. No more lame monty pythoning with the same weaponry as your opponent, though you can still attempt this if your weapons are longer range. I'm currently piloting a cargo transporter leading an escort of freighters in attempts to raise money for a nicer ship.

Its good here too, but I don't know how to start the plot like in Nova. Can someone tell me how I can start a plot thread?

The ship info is the same actually. The data appears different because it was adjusted to suit the Nova engine. 🙂

As well, we had to add a few graphics because the Nova engine dropped comm pics and used shipyard pics for the communication dialogue.

Right. It plays the same....I was commenting on the oddity of seeing the different values in the shipyard statistics (even though they equate to the EVO values).

Currently, I'm in an stock Arada bought from Igradza...err...those orange guys, and am working for the Voinians. (At least, until I doublecross them and work for the UE.)

The interesting change so far in game play is that armor does not regenerate. This might put a twist in the usefulness of dospect and bronev plating. I haven't tried this yet, but obviously slapping dospect on an Azdara...err....those little green ships will not be the end-all solution it had been.

:roll eyes: You can double-cross them, but only if you leave the Rescue Defector Mission in the Active Missions.

Right. As of now, that Voinian defector is having a nice time being sequestered somewhere in my cargo bay while I work for the Voinians. Definitely doesn't do anything to alleviate the defector's fears.

For some reason, I can't trigger the Miranu mission to bring medics from Himgro to New Calcutta. I've also noticed that the mission board has never listed any missions to either New Calcutta or New Tokyo (which are in the same system). Anyone else having this bug?

Also, what is this Miranu gunship I keep hearing about? How do I get it?

I can't say for sure whether there is a bug, but the mission should be available in the bar at Himgro after you receive a 'Fair' or higher combat rating. (I believe the only missions that you get through the mission computer that actually advance a storyline are the 'Delivery to Paaren Station' missions you get while completing the station.)

The Miranu gunship is 'developed' during the Zachit mission string, which begins in the bar at Outpost Zachit after you have a 'Dangerous' or higher combat rating.

Ah, I need to kill more stuff. That helps. BTW, haven't seen a Paaren station delivery in a long time (and it's not finished). Is there a lag time or requirement I don't know about?

Check the Mission BBS. It should be separate from others UE Deliveries.

I've been checking every BBS from one side of UE space to the other. From top to bottom, side to side, etc, and I still haven't seen any more of those missions. I also well passed the combat rating requirement (now at competent), and still do not get the medical mission on Himgro.

I see a pattern here. All missions that alter a planet's/station's description seem to be locked out. :frown:

Mmm... This might be because, when the Nova engine chooses a random destination planet, it ignores planets that may no longer exist due to system swapping (itself caused by the completion of the himgro stuff). You may say that these planets still exists afterwards, but actually if they strictly ported EVO, both spöbs (space objects, New Calcutta and New Tokyo planets if you prefer) are different (different IDs) between before and after, because the EVO engine did not allow simple dësc changes caused by mission bits, so they had to duplicate both planets, so as the old ones may no longer exist before you get there Nova does not random mission to these planets.

This should be fixed in a patch, if the error is indeed what I think it is.

I just used the original methods and angles used to produce shipyard images for EVO. I want everything to seem as close to EV as possible. The image is a mediocre quality jpg anyways...

I still don't see why I can't get the plot missions from Himgro or the last one to Paaren Station. They simply won't appear. It's getting very frustrating.

Well, the game proved me a liar. As soon as I posted that last one, I started the game back up and got the last Paaren Station mission.
