Something strange happened to me when I was playing EVO, terrorizing the North Tip Renegades in my dospoct Azdara. I had taken a search and destroy mission(non-Zachit). After reducing the Jade Dragon to space dust, I returned to Hizdriar, where I had gotton the mission. Jumping into the system, I spotted a R. Crescent Fighter almost directly in front of me, and had started attacking it when the usual three renegades ( the ones that follow you everywhere when you take a bounty hunting mission) jumped in behind me. Instead of attacking me, they finished off the other renegade, and left to attack a frieghter, completely ignoring me. Is the (Strandless) Renegade attacking (Strandless) Renegade thing some sort of bug?

This is no bug. I have had similar things happen. I think when their are ships in the system already there is some sort of mechanism that make the ships that jump into the system after you attack any ship no matter if it's on their side or not to make them get out of the way of the battle. Oh well, it's just a guess.
No. Actually the renegades that follow you around are internally south tip renegades, as all (but Hizdriar) strandless planets are in the south tip, so they are annoyed by south tip renegades, etc... And these south tip renegades have met north tip renegades, the kind of guys the zachit fight (don't I know it!) and plague the north tip (I have not yet emptied it ;)). Both are xenophibic, they have no reasons to like each other, so they fight. It can be easily corrected by setting one allied with the other in the data files.

Strange, I always assumed that both these renegade factions were allied. But then again, it would make more sense them not to be. After all, Strand renegades are supposed to be made up of several races. Supposedly, the South TIp Crescent Renegades happened to be made up of mostly Azdgaris and the bottom half of the North TIp Crescent Renegades were comprised moslty of Igazdras, and as you all know, these Strand races hate eachothers guts.

It would make less sense if they were allied.
Renegades live on money and terror, and because the tips are so far away (you could even say, opposite ends of the galaxy) it would be pointless to have an alliance. Better to fight and loot the other captain's crescent warship, his arada escorts and steal his stolen cargo.

Exactly. If you really think about it, they're rivals for the same market- just different regions. They both also have many of their own enemies to fight in their respective territories, so what's one more? I think Peter Cartwright: A. never even considered it B. considered it and never saw more than a few fleeting chances for the two sides to be in a system together.. (they are a good, what, 30, 40 systems apart?) or C. because they're xenophobic (in the flag field) they just hate everyone who isn't them, regardless of their allegiances or trade..
