Yes, you can join the renegades. I believe you can join the North Tip Renegades in North Tip Station, found in the Hrekka System, which is just outside the Ji Nebula.
You can join the Human Renegades by killing a lot of militia ships above Iothe and then landing there after bribing. You'll get the mission in the bar from one of the Captains of Freeport. To join this, you must not do any of the UE Cargo missions, nor the UE-Miranu missions; you'll also need a noteworthy combat rating, and there's a 50% chance you'll get the mission.

Now, could you spoil it for me and tell what would I face if I joined them, just generally.
'Cos I'm too lazy to do this myself... And at least the one version of EV-Edit (an older one) was unable to show all the mission descriptions.
I have a new one now, but still. A lazy man is a lazy man.

I'll just say that you'll need at least an arada to do the missions effectively. Although, I'd probably do them in my modded up Voinian Heavy Fighter, considering that you'll face some decent sized enemy ships. Give the missions a try. I always liked the surprises, althoughgrantednot everyone likes what I like, so what do I know?

I think this is a common mistake because it sure doesn't work for me. I got the first NT renegade mission on Hizdriar. You need to be an offender.

You would face this: Renegades interrupting your trip to Freeport, but with a Pride of Freeport pers Turncoat (Rockets and more Needle Missiles than normal) escort to take care of them, the killing of a another pers Turncoat (has Rockets), a raid on Alien Renegades on Mavs with 5 Turncoat escorts, 3 Crescent Warships (!) to attack Freeport with still 5 Turncoat escorts, and a peace treaty on Gorky. No wonder if you couldnt. EV-Edit is legendary for being buggy. For Alien Renegades: Escort a pers Crescent Warship Nereid to Hrekka under heavy Zachit fire before it dies, attack on Miranu convoy, looking Zachit jumping to a empty system near Hrekka, and a attack on Outpost Zachit, which is one of the toughest missions in the game, you even get to attack a Miranu Gunship!

Shayborg wishes to correct. You can have done those missions; you can have done even the first mission in the UE string. The only one you cant have done is Rescue Scoutship crew.
Also I think if you have accepted the free huron missions you are also out of luck with the human renegades.

But I think you have to do the Scoutship crew mission before you can get the Huron/Pariah/Cruiser missions..
The renegade string is fun, but waaay too short. Has anyone ever played Captains Of Freeport? I mean, there's the updater, but has anyone in the world actually played that plug? Ever?

No. I would like one too. I think there was a explanation in a post last September. The developer lost the file or something...
