So whatever happened to him? I heard he's an admin here, but are there any plans for future sequels to Frozen Heart?
------------------
According to Jim (see his topic "what's new?" to see for yourself) he's trying to talk him into it. Apparently he's busy and doesn't want to do just a half-decent job of it, though, and that's holding him back.
Then again, a plug done at 50% capacity by Martin Turner would own 95% of all other plugs in existence anyway. But obviously what matters is how he feels, not my own relatively uninformed opinion. The bottom line is that while it could very well happen at some point, Mr. Turner isn't pursuing it right now given his busy life.
Cross your fingers and pray that it happens, though. I'd sure love to see another plug or two out of him before all's said and done....

I agree completely. We haven't seen anything really good since ROTUE and ROTV and ROTVII. If you all want ROTVIII, just say that you want this plug. I feel like I'm advertising.
ROT...?
Overall, aside from Frozen heart and Femme Fatale, I have found EVO does not have as many quality plugs as EV...

He's a moderator, not an admin. World of difference between the two.

I want it! It would be awesome to have a new ROTV plug. ROTVII was released years ago already. What would it be about? Crescent wars? Fighting against the Miranu and Strands, when it failed in ROTVII (in one time they say they cant never win Zachit).
------------------ I am eager to try to ansver mission questions
I had a discussion with him about it. The Voinian will promise one of the strand the entire Crescent galaxy. ROTVIII didn't get very far, but with more assistance, it just might work. I'm not telling anything else......

Of course, the really pressing question is what price would the Strand pay for their deal with the devil? Having the Crescent would be nice, but remember, the Voinians rarely share power with anybody. Also, keep in mind that Crescent battles are very different from UE-Voinian battles.. (more emphasis on energy weapons than mass weapons)

If you're working on the project, I would be happy to help you.
I'm an expert with missions (I've been doing plugs for years, just none of them ever get completed cause I'm on my lonesome :frown:) and other stuff.
And I'll clean up the first two bloody plugs, they need it.

You know, an EVO galactic politics discussion would be quite interesting.

Not to turn this into a full-blown discussion about the politics of ROTVIII, but...
My opinion of it would be that the Voinians somehow convince one of the strands to help them, and in return, they get all the space that the other two strands used to occupy. The strand and the Voinians would then attack their enemies, the Voinians sharing only enough technology to keep their 'ally' ahead of their enemies. In turn, the Voinians would advance their own weaponry (phase-neutron weaponry perhaps?) and would build up Voinian forces in their allies space for 'protection'. Once all their other enemies have been dealt with, the Voinians would then launch a surprise attack against the last strand, crippling them before they could successfully build up their forces.

Given this theory, I think you'd be a bit surprised what I had cooked up for the galaxy in ROTV III. Still, it really doesn't make much sense to go into it since the plug-in won't happen for a long time, if ever. I've switched my focus to EVN. I still love and play EVO, but the time needed for ROTV III is more than I have to spare right now..

It's not as if they would become perminent allies.

You're right, it would.. I'm curious. Given the three strands and their major defining characteristics, (Igadzra- hostility, unfriendliness; Adzgari- Sneaky, quick; Zidagar- paranoid, suspicious) who would you all see as most likely to side with the Voinians? It's pretty easy to say the Igadzra, but the other strands have just as much to gain by making an alliance with them. I'm interested what people have to say..
To get it started, this is what I had (tentatively) planned for ROTV III:
The Voinians had all but finished their conquests of the terran plateau and Miranu space had become a territorial province of their Empire. Taking several years to solidify their bureaucracy within the terran core worlds, the Voinians began to realize they had a far more serious threat on their hands; the pure consumption of their war industry. Slowly but surely, the constant churning out of all their natural resources was taking it's toll on the Voinian core worlds, and within another fifty years they would be all but devoid of any salvagable resources. The UE worlds, being far less industrious, provided a temporary stop-gap, but it was only a matter of time before their worlds were used up as well.
The Empire knew that if they continued to produce their terrifying fleets it would eventually bring about their destruction, and the far more conservative and efficient strands would only have to wait out the Empire's decay. But they also knew that the Strands held a deep hatred for one another, a vital weakness they knew they could exploit. The only way the Empire could set up long term shipments to Miranu space (which still holds a vast tract of resources, especially in the north) was to somehow intensify the fighting between the Strands. And so, rather than siding with one, they sided, in secret, with all three, promising that Strand another third of the Crescent and shared control of the other third. The Igadzra refused, all too wary of the Voinian's recent movements in UE space (which is closest to their space). The Zidagar refused as well, still holding out a scrap of loyalty to the Miranu, who were now beneath the Voinian's heel. Only the Adzgari took the proposal seriously and considered it for several weeks, and later, accepted.
Since they knew war in the Crescent was imminent, they thought perhaps they could hold the Voinians to their word and ride out the terror that was to come. But the Zidagar and Igadzra eventually got wind of the agreement when Voinian war fleets began entering Adzgari space, and fighting alongside their border patrols. Realizing the Adzgari would now be in a position of extreme advantage over both of them (both now had two fronts on which to fight the Voinians) they set up a temporary alliance with which to fight the new alliance. Knowing full well from UE refugees that the Voinians would come at them with their clumsy armored vessels, both races began projects of new vessel development (virtually unheard of in the Crescent).
Quickly, the Voinians pushed the Adzgari for a defining battle with the Igadzra, promising a massive war fleet to support the Adzgari warships. And one day, the conflict began on the Igadzra-Adzgari border- the losses on both sides were catastrophic- the entire Adzgari battle fleet was lost as were many of their border forces, while Zidagar reinforcements poured in through their back door and began raiding the core. The promised Voinian fleet was nowhere to be seen. Within a few weeks, Adzgari resistance had crumbled, and the Igadzra and Zidagar were triumphant. But what they didn't realize was that they had actually done the Voinian's work for them. Their plan all along had been to use the Adzgari as bait, making the Strands destroy one another. With the Igadzra now over extended in Adzgari space, the Voinians invaded, not with their clumsy vessels, but rather, with the multitude of UE vessels they had captured. Outmatched and severely overburdened, the Igadzra didn't last long.
Of course, capturing one's capital does not make them automatically go away, and the Voinians soon found the Crescent to be far more troublesome than they had thought. But by now they had had 2 years with which to rebuild their fleets after the UE conquests, and they could sustain whatever minor losses rebels took from them in the Crescent..
To be continued...
Interesting. Personally, I would have preferred a scenario similar to that one, but one in which the Azdgari and Voinians actually work together, the Voinians silently waiting for their chance to destroy the Azdgari. With the Voinians help, the Igadzra and Zidagar are defeated and conquered, and the Voinians prepare to ambush the Azdgari. However, the Azdgari have already anticipated this, and have built up their own fleets and researched new and powerful vessels for use against the Voinians. In addition to this, as the Voinians slowly advanced (with Azdgari help) against the Igadzra and Zidagar, the Azdgari made a secret alliance with the Igadzra and Zidagar, giving them information which lead to the destruction of many Voinian ships (which would make the Azdgari's job easier). When the Igadzra and Zidagar at last inevitably fell, the Azdgari enslaved almost all of them, imbedding them with special devices which reduced the captured Zidagar and Igadzra to zombie-like minions which served the Azdgari and Voinians. When the Azdgari ambush the Voinians, the many thousands of Zidagar and Igadzra zombies also attack, do much damage to the Voinians, then rush to aid the Azdgari, who by now have taken over much of the old space that the Zidagar and Igadzra used to control. The Voinians would now enter into a major war with the Azdgari Empire.
Just my idea.
That sounds awesome! Build in some contextual dialogue referring to Total War committed by both sides, and you've got some serious battles ahead.

Cough This is not Nova, so there is no enslavement devices. The Igadzra and Zidagar are not Vell-os and the Azgari are not Bureau.
