Arg, I have scraped up enough money for one, but I'm not sure which. I tend to go for the Arada because of it's speed, but should I buy the Freight-Courier for its superior firepower? And no, I'm not going to save up for a Lazira.

Hmmm, I'm currently in a Scoutship, and I think I'll get the Arada.
The Freight-courier just can't mount enough turrets. Three won't go very far.

If you buy an Arada, you must also buy a fuel scoop if you want to get back to UE space.

Huh? There's five jumps from Saalia to Priat and four from DSN-1810 to Priat. The arada's got five jumps of fuel... Are you talking about the Nebula objective?
No question. Get the Arada. plenty of room, plenty of maneauverability, and it's better. Unless you're trying to encourage you suicidal tendancies, Arada all the way. Also, look into pursuit missiles.

The freight-courier's not bad for a human ship... but it is still a human ship. I've flown one in the past, and it's quite a bit like flying an Argossy in EV; it's something that can be upgraded to the point where you can take out a warship (with care!)... but it's something of a dead end.
Big sprites soak up more stray shots; go for the Arada.

I'd say go for a Crescent Fighter and then just hire escorts. The thing is nearly ( nearly mind you) invincible when you fill it with sheild enhancers. Running tourists from Earth to New Rome pays off well, and combat can provide you with a stipend.

For money, hire six cargo transporters and do the Hatuli run, blasting everything in your way with the extra six blaze turrets. The freight-courier really isn't a bad ship, but the Arada's speed opens up a whole new range of fighting, and EV:O doesn't really have any counters to most of those tactics (only the EV:N Auroran railgun comes close to countering it).
If you haven't taken the UE missions up to the dreadnought yet, do so. Try it all in a UE fighter. If you can get the hang of pulling down Voinian cruisers in a UE fighter, you've mastered the use of light ships. So get the Arada - or the Crescent fighter. <grin>

Those are very good too. I use them occasionally instead of Crescent Fighters.

The arada is more powerful than the FC, and faster, and has just about everything going for it. And it can fly circles around laziras, literally.
