Actual Post Now: Newbie is an odd word, with different meanings when people use it. Compared to David Arthur, I am a newbie, yet compared to Grundulator, I'm not. In the broader sense of the word, Newbie is based on Self-Esteem boardwise, so once you give up the fear of being a newbie, you are no longer one. Hope I helped. As for the three-headed hellhound, it's happily chewing on esponer's hand. it'll be a while before he even notices. The tradition of "beating in" the newbie, is passed down. Eventually, when you get strong on the boards, hopefully you'll pass it down to the next newbie.... sigh ah, the traditions...

That's why I think of the word "newbie" as either a statement of how old the person is in the community or how old the person is mentally; I can think of a few people that are newbies, even though they've been around for a while.
