Lavrii Technologies
WEAPONS
Polaron Cannon/Battery The polaron cannon is the Lavriis basic primary weapon. When they were attacked by the Akrahd, they quickly realised that their standard weaponry (which was before a type of thoron laser) would not be effective against such large numbers. They thus designed polaron weaponry, which as well as damaging the enemy, would also reduce the functuality of communications and sensors on their target. When under heavy fire, many Akrahd vessels are unable to detect anything beyond their ship, and have thus been completely unable to fire with any accuracy.
Armor Damage: 25
Shield Damage: 10
Reload/Speed: Phase on both counts
Polaron Wave Emitter This weapon emits waves of polarons similar to that in a polaron cannon. They make use of the side effect of the polaron cannon more than they do damage, although the wave emitter can also be useful for its 360ş simultaneous fire. At relatively close range, wave emitters can disrupt both sensors and communications being sent through another ships shields. Lavrii interceptors are known to enter Akrahd ranks under cover of heavier ships and completely cut off the Akrahds ability to make tactical decisions. However, the waves must cover all sides of their target to have effect, and thus it is impossible for one Lavrii ship to disrupt another ship - it takes at least two (but a hundred can disrupt another hundred, if they are not destroyed first). They also have the side effect of bouncing away enemy ships quite a distance
Armor Damage: 5
Shield Damage: 0
AS Torpedo The anti-shield torpedo is one of the Lavriis oldest technologies - before they encounted the armour based Akrahd. Only their older ships actively employ this weapon. When it collides with shielding, the torpedo scrambles the shield frequency. The result of this is that the enemy cannot fire without damging their own shields, until the effects have worn off, after a minute or two. Against the Akrahd, these weapons have mostly proved effective at halting enemy fire, rather than being very useful to damage the enemy.
Fusion Dart The fusion dart is a recently developed Lavrii munitional weapon. They are much smaller than their earlier AS torpedoes, and to make their small size inexpensive, they lack guiding systems. Fusion darts are launched out of Lavrii ships extremely fast - several times faster than the speed of a standard freefire rocket. They are thus capable of greater accuracy. However, the darts only effect armour, so beyond the Akrahd they would not be of particular use.
Armor Damage: 40
Shield Damage: N/A
Reload/Range: Javelin Rockets (EV)
Polaron Heavy Laser The most powerful single weapon employed by the Lavrii is the polaron heavy laser. Only the heaviest of Lavrii vessels are capable of directing a discharge, although the energy of smaller ships can be drawn into the discharger to amplify the damage. The laser itself takes some time to charge, and at a minimum three interceptors must supply their energy. On average, if the four ships all keep together, the polaron heavy laser will fire every fourty seconds. The effects, as usual, scramble communications and sensors over a wide area, and when the targets shields are down they can scramble in-ship communications as well. They also have a second side-effect; it will immediately disable an enemy ships weapons for 10-20 seconds, much like the Anti-Shield Torpedo does.
Armor Damage: 300
Shield: 100
Reload/Range: 40 seconds if link is maintained / munitional range
Polaron Disruptor Designed to help retreating Lavrii ships, the Polaron Disruptor shoots out a ball of compressed polaron energy in an ion lattice. Once the ion lattice degrades and eventually disappears, the polaron energy is released, creating an area of disrupted polaron energy. Weapons detonate when going through it, and homing weapons going near it are jammed, though communications are not really hampered. It is quite useful for retreating fleets, for anything that touches it is damaged or destroyed.
Armor Damage: 50 per second
Shield: 50 per second
Reload/Range: Range and speed of a pursuit missile, with a rather slow reload
Limpet Mine The limpet mine is one of the afterthoughts of a battle involving the Lavrii, and usually the Akrahd. They take special care to eliminate the shields of as many targets as possible before destroying them, so they can fire tiny robots known as limpet mines at the targets hull. The mines begin to tear apart the hull slowly, even after the battle is finished. They are virtually impossible to detect, and can do some serious damage. Eventually, they run out of power, and stop functioning. However, if an Akrahd fleet was to go into hyperspace, the chances are when it returned to realspace its armour would be severely damaged.
Armor Damage: 2
Reload/Range: Firing; defence pods, primary range, In effect; damage per second, contact range

TECHNOLOGY
Lavrii Shielding Lavrii shields are different in several aspects to standard shielding. Their shields are extremely weak, but recharge very quickly. As a result, Lavrii ships are destroyed when they are targetted by overwhelming firepower, and not by multiple encounters. Enemies who have attempted to take on the Lavrii one by one have been quickly destroyed. Another important note is that an attack which would usually destroy a Lavrii ship tends to only destroy the shielding - the armour is unaffected. This means that in general, at least two hits will be necessary to destroy one of their ships, but if the damage is three or more times greater than their shield capacity, this rule does not count.
Lavrii Shield Regenerator Since Lavrii ships tend to trade heavy shielding for lightning fast shield recharge, they quickly realised that when targetted by very heavy weaponry, they would be at a serious disadvantage; and would likely be destroyed before their shields could recharge. As such, the Lavrii developed an add-on to their shield system, which draws their vessels fuel and instantly recharges the ships shields. As a result, Lavrii shields are able to stay on the field in critical situations.

Everything you'll fight - SL or Lavrii - was designed by me, so if you need to blame anyone, I'm here for you. On the other hand, Akrahd stuff is pretty good
Oh, just to scare you, here's the result of a lot of work in GH.
Over the past twenty years, the Strand League has become a much more prominent force in the galaxy. The relative peace in the Large Megellanic Cloud has given them the opportunity to exploit the resources available to them with the absence of the Horoth and the Akrahd. As such, the Strand League has changed considerably, and their technology has improved in leaps and bounds.
Izar
The Izar is a gunboat-type vessel manufactured originally by the Igadzra Union, and upgraded as different technological advancements were made. The Izars main advantage over other vessels of its size are that they are armed with turrets, giving the Izar a 360ş angle of attack. With SAI modules as support, Izars can be extremely dangerous, especially in packs. Their main use, however, is supporting the IGNA capital vessels from fighter fire, and due to their relatively low cost, they can be easily mass produced. (93 T space, 7 T free)
Shields: 100 Armor: 30
Weapons: 2 Duelbeam Turreted Systems 1 Particle Railgun 2 Disc Launchers - 6 Scarab Discs
Irada - Modified The relatively new Irada frigate was designed to be a complement to the new specifications for the Izagra. As the Izagra was classed as a brawler, it was soon realised that to complement it an artillery vessel of some type would be needed. The Irada was thus designed. Armed heavily with SAI modules, and supported by powerful shields, Iradas are capable of devastation, although they are more useful while under escort than alone. Despite the emphasis on long-range firepower, Iradas are still effective in melees to a degree. (230 T space, 11 T free)
Shields: 350 Armor: 40
Weapons: 3 Duelbeam Turreted Systems 3 Particle Railguns 5 Disc Launchers - 28 Scarab Discs
Izagra - Modified For thousands of years the Igazra has been the Igadzras main warship, being upgraded and modified many times, but never replaced. With the defeat of the Ediens, and the forming of the Strand League, the Igadzra came to the conclusion that finally, the Igazra could be put aside for a more daring approach. The result; the Izagra Battlecruiser. Izagras are heavily armed with turbophase turrets and particle railguns, as well as stunning defences. However, they forfeit their SAI capabilities completely. (300 T space, 80 T free)
Shields: 1100 Armor: 100
Weapons: 8 Duelbeam Turreted Systems 4 Particle Railguns
Igazrada
The Igazrada is one of the most powerful vessels in existance. Before the defeat of the Ediens, there was only one functional Igazrada - the Templar - but in the years that followed, the economy of the Strand League made it possible for more of these titans to be constructed. They now complement the IGNA fleet. After several major upgrades with Zidagar miniaturisation techniques, Igazradas have taken on the role of an allrounder, with both heavy close range and long range firepower. While Igazradas remain a rare sight on the battlefield, they are extremely difficult to destroy. (850 T space, 215 T free)
Shields: 3500 Armor: 500
Weapons: 16 Duelbeam Turreted Systems 6 Particle Railguns 10 Disc Launchers - 74 Scarab Discs
Zirada Despite the peace between the Azdgari and the Zidagar, the rivalry for the most effective fighter continued. The ZSN poured their effort into trying to make the Zirada as powerful as it could be, and their most recent upgrade shows their effort. Ziradas are extraordinarily well shielded for a fighter, and their firepower is considerable. In recent tests, the Zirada beat the Izar nine out of ten times, despite the size difference. (40 T space, 10 T free)
Shields: 75 Armor: 5
Weapons: 4 Duelbeam Systems 1 Kyhdron Beamer
Zidara The Zidara has not been in need of a replacement since the very dawn of the Zidagar. They are a work of art, and have shown no signs of waning. These pocket warships are surprisingly fast, and after deploying their pair of Ziradas, they usually fly along with them, using the combined firepower of four Kyhdron phase beams to tear apart their target quickly. The Zidara is not intended to be in battle for a large time, and its shielding reflects this. However, they tend to dispatch their targets at blinding speeds. (200 T space, 15 T free)
Shields: 275 Armor: 40
Weapons: 3 Duelbeam Turreted Systems 2 Kyhdron Beamers 1 Fighter Bay - 2 Ziradas 2 Rocket Launchers - 25 Redfire Dispersal Rockets
Zira - NEW The Zira escort cruiser is a newly developed vessel. They are the best defended of all ZSN vessels, and can take serious damage before being destroyed. They are heavily armed, although can not stand up to the Izagra in one to one combat. It is with their complement of Zirada fighters that the Zira shines as a powerful vessel; the Zira is able to support up to five Ziradas, a force powerful enough to destroy many light warships in itself. (425 T space, 30 T free)
Shields: 1000 Armor: 100
Weapons: 6 Duelbeam Turreted Systems 3 Kyhdron Turreted Beamers 2 Fighter Bays - 5 Ziradas 3 Rocket Launchers - 40 Redfire Dispersal Rockets
Energy Dampener - NEW (Downgraded) The Strand League spent years experimenting into the device they had found on Coron. Their research showed up various possibilities in dampening damage, but the original deflector design proved to be the most effective possible use of the technology. However, two years later, many ships that used the deflector began to decay, and there were fifty seven seperate cases of containment leakages, sometimes resulting in the destruction of a vessel. As such, the deflector was banned by the Ministry of Defence, and instead they have built the less successful energy dampener, which has been tested and proved to be completely safe. The dampener does exactly as it sounds - a matter/anti-matter reactor powers a dampening shield which reduces all shield damage by 5-10%. It is theoretically possible to produce a dampener that could reduce damage by more, even as high as 40%, but all experiments into such improvements have resulted in near catastrophic accidents. (5 tons)
Duelbeam (Turreted) System - NEW Duelbeam is a revolutionary advancement in primary energy weapons. It came about as a major operation undertaken by the Ministry of Defence in an attempt to make up for their lack of advantage in the realms of primary weaponry, since turbophase had become available to all members of the Coalition and criminals associated with Lars Magna. Duelbeam is comprised of two very fine beams which intercept at their target. Each beam is individually harmless. The first carries thousands of pairs of synthesised elements, which together are stable, but apart are extremely unstable. The second beam breaks down the link between those elements when it meets, and as a result the synthesised elements instantly react and explode violently. Duelbeam is a very fast, accurate weapon, that can be used minimally for a fraction of a second. It does, however, need to be charged for a few seconds. (5 tons, 20 tons)
Armour Damage: 9
Shield Damage: 9
Range/Reload: Slightly higher range than phase, beam
Disc Launcher - (goes with the Scarab disc) The disc launcher is a new light launcher designed to load and fire Scarab discs and any other later versions of the Disc. They are mostly independant of the ship, although have no radio communication system and thus must be at least externally connected. The Disc launcher is only one of the ways being designed to load and fire Discs - in early development is the DL silo and Freefire attachment for Discs. (10 tons)
Scarab Disc - NEW A newly developed design, the Scarab is a replacement for the existing SAI module within IGNA ranks. However, the entire Disc project is much wider, and will also replace the ZSNs munitional interests. The Scarab itself is a very heavy munitional weapon, weighing two tons. They are much more advanced than the standard guided missile. Scarabs are shaped like a disc to avoid the bulk of PDS fire, and are coated in a 10cm layer of armour. They are not as fast moving as some missiles, but that is intentional, as Scarabs are anti-warship devices. Their payload is considerable, and their range even greater than that of the SAI module. They also have practically no blast radius and an accuracy that almost nothing in existance can throw off.
Armor Damage: 100
Shield Damage: 400
Speed/Reload: Slightly slower than the pursuit missile in speed, reloads quite slowly on the launcher (quickly on Silos and instantly with 1-ton Freefire attachment)
Particle Railgun - Upgraded The particle railgun is the secondary weapon of the Igadzra Grand Naval Arm. They refer to it as an artillery weapon, and their replacement of the rocket. Indeed, with the number of 250mm pellets stored, and the relatively ease of collecting ore from asteroids to be used in railgun, this weapon is, effectively, limitless in ammunition. It is the pride of the IGNA, as its range matches that of a missile. The pellets fire so quickly that almost nothing can actively evade it, and it has been proved again and again that the particle railgun is the perfect weapon for turning an organised charge into a frightened rout. Also noted is the railguns three second reload and impact. This weapon is also a light replacement for rockets. (15 tons)
Armour Damage: 40
Shield Damage: 100
Speed/Reload: Light speed, 3 second recharge
Kyhdron Beamer - Upgraded The kyhdron beamer is the ZSNs most dangerous weapon. Advanced from the earlier phase beams, it makes the ZSN a very powerful foe in close range melees. Kyhdron weaponry still drains fuel, however, but since all ZSN ships are fitted with ramscoops and additional fuel tanks, they can keep up fire for some time. In the past twenty years, the kyhdron beamer has undergone very little in the way of upgrade, but MoD has announced an interest in improving it further once the Disc Project is complete.
Armor Damage: 10 Shield Damage: 15
Speed/Reload: Phased Beam

The remnants of LMC's "Coalition" alliance (NOT a government) is binding the Miranu, Kayans, Azdgari and Strand League together. The actual Coalition was abolished, but the communication stands. These four governments are on good terms with the Federation (at peace, anyway - I'm not sure how much the Azdgari like the Feds, and SL despise them) and the Voinians.
Voinian and UE space is occupied by the Voinian Empire, who conquered humanity. They occupy similar space to the Coalition in WoD, but aren't. The only "merger" of governments occured between the Zidagar and the Igadzra, which formed the Strand League.
You can't be SL - I am. And it's Izz-ar, E-ra-da, E-zag-ra, E-gaz-ra-da, Zir-a-da, Zid-a-ra and Zir-a for pronounciation. The Ryu, a ship I intend to build, is pronounced Re-u (Or Ri-u if you'd prefer).
Website isn't up yet. However, if you want to see the website for GH (url="http://"http://www.carnotaurhq.com/golden_horizon")here.(/url)
We use a little thing called "AIM". That's generally how most OOC communication in webstories work - you'll notice all the major players have AIM. And yes, I know quite a bit about SH. Not as much as Carnotaur, but
I know the techs of Asani, Sladerei, Horosk, Strand League, Lavrii, Thorosk and Federation. I wrote SL, Asani and Lavrii. And today I get Akrahd!
I also have the somewhat uncompleted Andromeda map, and I had the honour of making the SMC map, although that isn't up yet.

I kinda felt the same way when I first heard all the new races they were planning to introduce, but in time it'll probably all become fall into place and make sense.
Oh, and don't be so sure you'll never play a major role... in a universe so full of violence and strife there will always be a special role for peaceful races like the Miranu and Kayans

If it makes you feel any better, ESPilot, the Lavrii don't do well in pure firepower, and their ships are definitely not very amazing. The only reason they do so good is with the help of their superwarriors and the fact that the Akrahd clans are sometimes too busy with each other than to go off and conquer the Lavrii.
Espy -- I'm Akrahd now too. Can I blame you also if I get screwed up?

Originally posted by Shade: Some questions; when can I see the Lavrii ships? Are their internal politics done? Do they have contact with anyone asides the Akrahd?
I lost the requirements for Lavrii ships (silly stuff; ship types), and as such I was unable to finish them. Carnotaur thinks I'm doing them, so they aren't getting done.
Carnotaur probably has an idea.
Yes, but I'd be a little wary of Akrahd ambushing diplomatic vessels. Oh, I'm so glad my diplomatic vessels are called Igazradas
