OK I thought this might be an interesting subject. This topic is discribed by one, single, solitary, and simple question. It's funny how questions like these are usually replied with complex answers. But enough with that crap. The question is: If you had to choose, which would you prefer: The Voinian Empire (my personal coice), or the UE ('Down with the UE! Just let the Voinians enslave them!'), or neither?

Both. I've played as a defector to the Voinians, and I've done the loyal UE thing many times as well. Most experienced players will try the Voinians (with ROTV) sooner or later, and enjoy the change.
Discussions of which side has the best weapons, the best ships, the best planets and even the best political systems have been held already.

I've played for both, but I find myself helping the Voinians more often then helping the UE.

Well, personally I'd prefer to work with the UEs because they aren't cold blooded killers. That said, I wrote ROTV and ROTV II because I was disappointed at having worked hard to get the Voinian missions only to have them end so abruptly with so little accomplished.

Yeah same with me. If I want to be ruthless and evil I'd chose the Voianian side. But if I wanted to be good and loyal to Human kind I'd chose United Earth side. Which I do the most.

Hey, who says to be loyal to someone you have to join the UE? I would think the Voinians have a very high sense of honor and loyalty.

True...I don't actually hate the Voinians, I just usually have a grudge against them because the storyline has them as a military race who wants to destroy your world...That simple.

The main reason I've been a helper of the Voinians is for the Voinian Cruiser. No, not the Dreadnought, the Cruiser. Because I think the Dreadnought could be mistaken for a pie wedge by some dumbass and get devoured....or maybe by a giant space worm that lives in an asteroid. And the cruiser looks more stylish anywho.

Yeppers. Voinians started th' whole thang. But it's th' UE's fault fer resistin'; if they hadn't th' whole thing wouldn'ta started don'tcha see? (If you don't like my words making me sound like a hillbillee then I'll stop.) And about that thing Skyblade said about the Voinians wantin' to blow up earth, it ain't not true!! Them voinians just wanta enslave us and make us work rescource mines and factories while they do all the fightin'. Glad I'm safe out in Azdgari territory where the Voinian Grand Military Arm can't reach. I suggest all inhabitants of UE space should evacuate to Miranu territory where they'll be safe!!
------------------ If you knew my precise record on my game you'd think I'm an Azdgari, but I'm not. Just the commander of a small mercenary fleet that favors the Azdgari. Ships include: 3 Aradas including my own, 2 CW's, and 2 Laziras.
The main reason not many people like the Voinians is because the intro text is biased. If the Voinians were portrayed a little differently, then the Voinians and Azdgari (the two would make a perfect alliance) would be much more popular.

Yeap, you're probably right. Most people don't realize it, but they automatically start hating the Voinians the first time they ever play the game, or atleast read the intro text. After reading it, I'm sure most people want to stick with the UE anyway. But when I want to have fun, I go work for the Voinians.
