Mac Emulators

Now that we have the "EVO Multiplayer" thing all worked out, here's another rumor I need clarification on: Is there sucha thing as a mac emulator? If so, where can I find it? My friend wants one. Anyone know of a website where he can get a download of one?

I'm running Bailiski (sp?) and although i have crisp sound i still get choppy game play even when i boost the ram speed on the emulator up.

Does Fusion clear this up?

No, I'm in the opinion that Basilisk II runs EV best out of the currently available emulators (and it's free). Plus, it runs EVN, and Fusion can't run it properly.

As far as improving gameplay goes, I'd close down all non-critical programs that are running in Windows before starting Basilisk, and in Basilisk, make sure you have all non-essential extensions off.

Yeah, go with Basilisk. I find it runs EV:O a little slow, but I haven't increased the RAM at all (I like the way the game slows down during big battles, gives me time to think). The only glitch I've found is a problem with the graphics for the UE Freighter and Cruiser.

I suppose the game speed is dependent on the specs of your machine, but I haven't tried downloading Nova yet as I'm not prepared to spend half a day downloading it just to discover that it runs at snail-pace, if at all.

You sold me queer giraffes. I want my money back.

umm... How did you get EVN to run on basilisk 2?

I'm running it with a 68040 rom (quadra 650), 192 meg ram, loads of drive space.....

Just gives me error "cannot access monitor tool" r something along those lines. I got that with EV and EVO, but then i figured out how to run them (any resolution, full screen directx, 256 colors) but i havent figured out how to do EVN... any suggestions?

Thanks,

Well, if you're finding EVO slow, EVN may be too slow for you. EVO runs fairly smoothly on my machine, and EVN is okay when I'm just flying around, but once a battle begins, well...you can't really do much until it ends except hold down the "Fire" button. It works for me though, so far. But I haven't gotten very far.

I would say, wait until you do get a Mac. That's what I'm planning on doing, though that might take...some time. As in a couple of years.

But anyway, if you ever get a chance to try, have fun.

Oh jeez, ancient history. Don't ask me why I reccomended Fusion. Don't ask what was up with that sig.. :), Basilisk II is the best of them, although a Mac is better (better then the best.. nice!)

I didn't, I was only comtemplating it. I searched the Nova board and found that it'll only run on Basilisk if you do something or other that's illegal, apparently.

No, I don't have a superiority complex. I simply am, and will continue to be, superior.

It's URL in the brackets, not link. Just FYI.

To run EVN on Basilisk 2 you must get a powerpc ROM file, technically illegal without actually having bought a mac but available on many warez sites. You also need to hack a bit, and need a lot of luck. It is technically possible to get EVO and EVC to run on (shudder) executor, but why would you want to?

A good site for macintosh emulation of absolutely anything at all is (url="http://"http://www.emulation.net")here(/url), very useful if you want to play an old commodore 64 game or something like that.
