How do I begin the Hinwar missions. Also how do I continue the UE missions. I have destroyed the dreadnought, but all I get now are frontier express missions to the outposts and the come-and-watch-some-UE-destroyers-get-roasted from the outposts a little way into voinian space. I get the impression from other posts that these are maybe linked. Also there is the emalga stuff. I have done some stuff for them but I can' remember exactly what, now.

When you go to Elmaghia, land on their planet (the large one, not one of the moons) and go to the bar. You should get a mission that requires you to defend their homeworld. After you've completed it, go to their training moon, in the bar you should get a mission that sets of the Elmaghia/UE misison string (I think its something like 'Take message to UE' or something similar), there's about a 20% chance of getting it each time you enter the bar. The Hinwar mission string is incorporated into the Elmagha/UE mission string.

Just follow directions in the previous post, keep getting bigger and badder ships so that you are able to punch through Voionian armor (if you destroyed the Dreadnaught, that shouldn't be a problem). Eventually you will be asked (from Emalghia) to do a joint UE/Voinian assault on, I think Grenits. Hinwar missions follow from there.
One thing to watch is not to get the Emalgha pissed at you by accidentally toasting one of their ships. It's really easy to do (after all, their ships are wooden), so keep control of your escorts. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I just completed that mission today. And the exploration one. And the Igadzra string. (woohoo.) My eyes hurt. How do I get the Anna Balashova missions? What is/are the other "central evo objectives"?

I recommend completing the needle jammer mission before going for the AB mission. It makes it a whole lot less frustrating the first time.

Your right about the needle jammer, I would also recomend getting as many nuetron turrets as you can hold for them crates. Nuetron turrets are good agains crates cuz they're powerfull, have long range and every shot hits the enemy unlike Blaze Cannona. Hold down fire and keep pressing closest target until its all clear.

The other central missions are: the Voinian string which ends after the destruction of Verril Prime. The Igadzra one which I forget when it ends. The Zidagra one ends after some mission to destroy some of the enemies colonies. And the Azdgari central mission. Also the Miranu missions to explore the nebulas. You can only do one of the three strand central objectives. And either of the UE/Voinian ones.
