I've been beating my head against the wall trying to jump-start the Azdgari string (which doesn't work any better than haunting South Tip Station - and hurts a lot more!) and was wondering if there was a Zidigar string? Is there is, have you got any tips on what to do or where to get to fire it up?

There is indeed a Zidagar string. I don't have the data in front of me, but I believe it begins on Pozdag.

Confirmed. Explore Mira, go through necessary Miranu relations missions, and then head northeast from Mira to Pozdag.

Uh, you need to have a little combat rating, I'd guess. Just wait outside pax station until some Voinians have killed a UE Destroyer or Cruiser and give it a last shot out of your blaze cannon before it blows up - that will make the kill go to your account. Now try a few times in the pax bar and you'll get the mission.
