Hey ho, Alien again. Anywho, I've been messing with the Star Wars conversation for EVO for the TC plug of EV Star Wars!
Perhaps too many conversations is a bad thing. The plug has several odd bugs in it.. First off, turrents don't work. Second, any missions recieved from the bar also do not work. You get cargo, a destanation, but when you get there, nothing, nada, zit, dip, flubber-tweak.
Anywho, twas wondering if there is a fixer-upper plug for this. Perhaps there is, and I'm too bloody lazy zzzzzz to get up and look for it. If there's not, I would kindly like to request a project to repair these problems..
Oh! For those on this noble quest of damn-those-brillant-bugs, I have noticed the same problem occurs when using the TC plug that converts EVO to EV. Except this time, bar missions do work, and so do turrents, but buh-bye cannons! They don't fire, and no sound is made. Bah! I WANT MY MONEY BACK! What? Credits? Oh, whoops..
Anycow, er, anyhow, help?
Thanks, Alien, back and as strange as ever... (Oddness)

Plug-ins - you get what you pay for.
I'm not sure entirely what you mean. You've converted what plug-in for which EV game?

What were the "modifications" you made?

Oh no no no! I did nothing of the sort to these plugins! The origional is a TC that turns EV into Star Wars.. THEN the one I am playing with is one that converts that plug over to the EVO format without making a whole new plug..
More happenings- Turrents DO work... SOMETIMES.. They refuse to fire to the front or back, and only fire to the sides of the ship. Cannons work on and off.. It seems whenever you start a new pilot, only one cannon at a time will work. The problem seems to be steadily fixed as you progress through the game... Strange, neh? OH, and fighter bays, if they must be bought, do not work at all. The Hapan fighter bay, which cannot be bought and comes installed, does work...
Alien (DIE YOU BASTARD PIRATES!)
More of the Same!!!! This is an amazing plug-in, what is the deal with these problems?

Please disregard that last post and forgive me for making it. Today is a new day.
Allow me to take a crack at your problem.
The problem with the Star Wars plug set is NOT a memory issue. I know this because I have 384 megs of ram, 330 megs of which are allocated to EVO, and I run a separate extension set whenever I play games. The problem of turrets not working and getting a halo of laser blasts circling around the player remains.
The problem is that the Star Wars plug set has too many separate plugs in it, plugs load alphabetically into the game engine (I think, anyway), and the data gets skewered because it gets loaded in a bad order.
The fix is complicated, but it WORKS! Here is what you do:
1.) Open SW20 1.0 (the largest file) in Res-Edit.
2.) Open SW20 1.03 fix in Res-Edit.
3.) Click on the first resource in the second plug to highlight it, then copy the entire resource.
4.) Open the corresponding resource in the first plug and paste the data from step 3. Doing it this way will overwrite some data, which is what you want, without losing data in the first plug that is not in the second plug. In other words, you are merely adding from the second plug what is not already in the first plug (but the corresponding resource window must be OPEN when you paste the entire resource from the second plug).
5.) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all resources from the second plug have been added to the resources in the first plug. Now close the second plug and save the first plug.
6.) Repeat the entire sequence until every resource from the rest of the plugs in the set has been added to the first plug.
If you want to cheat, I suggest that you add the resources from the cheat plug-ins last or any data you add afterwards will overwrite it, causing it to be lost.
If this sounds time consuming and aggravating, wait a few days and download the Star Wars plug from the add-ons page. It is a cheat version, but you can test it for yourself and see that it has no bugs. I intend to upload a non-cheat version when I get time.
Good luck to you.
Those administrators have really been on the ball lately and the Star Wars fix (cheat version) is already available for download from the add-ons page. Let's give our Ambrosia team a hearty round of applause! YEA!
I just uploaded Star Wars 1.0.5 (non-cheat version), which fixes the aforementioned problems. Give it a day or two and then go to the add-ons page and "Get It."
If you really want to be a Star Wars dork like me, play Star Wars in EVO and fly around completing missions or what-not, then land on a planet and quit the game. Then load the Star Wars wad files into Doom 2 and pretend that you are completing some Star Wars EVO related objective on the planet in a first-person shooter mode. When you complete whatever level you have selected, return to EVO and fly to another planet and repeat.
You can even get Star Wars graphics and sound files for Maelstrom, but it only makes sense to incorporate that into a back-and-forth game in EVO if you are flying the Millenium Falcon in EVO.
Okay, so I'm a Star Wars junkie. At least two of the three games I mentioned are brought to you by Ambrosia software, the best shareware company for the Macintosh (or Windows machines running an emulator).
