FF question

Hi all. I've attempted the "Art Theft" mission in F.F. a few times without getting anywhere and would now like to ask for help.
The story: I walk into a bar (ouch), find two people arguing, agree to escort and spy on the Mary Rose. I go to the specified planet, which is always uninhabited, and nothing happens. The Mary Rose continues to follow me around. I get no further instructions, and no indication that the mission has succeeded or failed (unless the Mary Rose happens to have an accident with an asteroid storm or something).
Any hints?

I am going to assume that I know what 'FF' you are referring to, and I will say this, although I don't know your exact problem; this can be a problem and is usually a bug, and sometimes you must edit the game to make it work, or give up. I had this problem with Frozen Heart, i.e. I would go somewhere and it would not accept that I had been told to go there, or I hadn't been given enough time by default, etc.

Always be cautioned to read mission text very carefully.

I had this problem as well. I played FF through a few weeks ago, so hopefully my memory is still up to the task. I remember landing at the specified planet, and getting no form of confirmation. I left, then without leaving the system, landed there for a second time, and for whatever reason it worked. It may be that the confirmation is not set to show up 100% of the time, if it's possible to do that in the same way bar missions can be set to show up only sometimes. Hope it works out for you.

I believe you may have missed a step. Remember the station very few are aware of that you visited earlier on? Its where you were told what "Jasta Hela" means. "Dark Station" or something like that. Go back there and visit the bar.

If a mission comes up, see it through. That's the missing link you need to move forward.

Note that I'm not absolutely sure of this, but I think this happened to me once. Give it a try and let me know how it works out.

I cannot endorse this advice. There are no mission related bugs in FH or FF (although there are a couple of EVO bugs which can cause problems).

'Editing' a plug-in to make it work is a recipe for disaster -- much better to follow UE Crusader's advice.

Right. Well, after a brief excursion to the eastern edge of the galaxy (with a detour to Sol 2 because I'm absent-minded), my services as a spy are now being acknowledged. Thanks to all who replied.
