clueless PoG Player

ok, I must be the most clueless PoG player out there, I am still running around in the "basic" mode of game play ie a swordsman my stats are getting better but no where near what some of you guys's are (poor grammer I know 🙂 )
I do have the Bow of Destruction but my guy is stronger with the sword should I just sell the bow and concentrate on strength and dexterity?
what about luck?
and where can i get the plug ins?

P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR...posting this at 12:39am 1 January 2002

------------------

I would sell the bow once i got the war axe of misery but on the other hand it is the best bow a swordsman can get nice for range shots i kept it but didnt use it much later in the game.

I like to work on vitality and str at low lvl and dex and luck once i get some HP (think blue mushroom)
remember luck affect the items and amount of gp a monster drops

the only two plug-ins (so far) is Trinity and one call Techno (a demo plugin that only opens one screen and seems to be only useful as a safehaven to camp)

stats devolp slowly in PoG and any stat hunting was alot of killin and work. ask AAC

P S Happy New Year back at ya ( you Aussies get everything first) 🙂

Do not sell the Elven bow of destruction! You can keep using it further on in the game, sometimes enemies get "stuck" at the other side of a rock formation, or near the end of a bridge. That is when you can easily take them out with the bow, without risking any damage to yourself. Then change back to whatever weapon you were using.

but the EBoD sucks so much compared to the War Axe Misery. I'd just as soon sell it at Gwyden Camp for 4000 GP as accept an offer 😉 from a hot chick.

I don't understand why someone would use the EBoD. Just use the Great Bow of Vyro, or Wolf Claws. EBoD doesn't kick at all. 😞

Never found those, but I guess you need the Trinity plug-in for that? Haven't used it yet, because I deleted the downloaded version as soon as the CD fell on the doormat. Now I wish I hadn't...another two and a half hour download.
That axe of Misery is great, but with a bow you don't need to get close. I tall depends on the moment in the game and how many permanent strenght etc. boosts you've taken.

If you are playing the regular POG w/o the trinity plug-in, then the EBoD is the most
powerful bow in the game. If you want to stand back and nail opponents, this bow is
the cat's meow.

Now if you are playing trinity then new weapons are introduced that make the EBoD
obsolete. The GBoV is definitelly a better weapon in trinity.

As for comparing any ranged weapon to a melee weapon(bow vs. axe/sword/whatever) there
really isn't a fair comparison. You have to offset extra damage done by the larger
weapons(WAoM or Wolf Claws or even the DRS) with the fact that bows are ranged weapons,
and depending on your accuracy, reactions, and location, could get many shots off at
your foe before it gets within attacking range of you.

So in my opinion it is all a matter of preference. If you like ranged weapons, use the
EBoD if you are playing a non-trinity game, or the GBoV if you are using Trinity. If
you prefer melee weapons, stick to them. This is why I like games that give me choices
which have bonuses and penalties, and I can decide for myself which is the best for
my type of play.

Shoot 'em with everything you've got. If anything still lives, shoot 'em again.

Here's my strategy on weapons, use ranged for enemys when they are running towards or away from you, and also on slow hard enemys or enemys that are easy to beat (for these, run away when they get close, then turn and shoot this gets you minimal damage :D) Use close range for when the enemys are in too close to use range weapons. If you do not kill an enemy with a ranged weapon when it is charging you and it is as fast or faster than you (this happens a lot in the game) switch weapons (by going into the inventory window, the enemy can not hurt you when you switch weapons because the game is paused) and hack away. In my experince, never limit yourself to one weapon, it is always nice to have three different types availble (two handed, one handed (with a sheild), and a bow). This is the stratgey that I use and found good, but use what ever is best for you, I am just trying to be helpful. 🆒

------------------

i only use bows when im weak (stats 50 or under) and i need to attack really fast. the bows fire a lot faster than melee weapons, so when you need to get a lot of hits in before you raise your shield use a really strong bow. once i get pretty strong (like i am now) i sell my bow and get the WAM or GWC
