Tachyonic Fighter in LEGO

i was skimming through the read-me and saw that the tachyonic fighter was origianally a lego model 22 years ago. i thought this would be a cool idea to try and make one, so i printed the shipyard and sprite pics and began. but i bumped into some diffuculty. I was wondering what size the model was (5 in? 12?) so i could use a good amount of blocks. Second, i used a thing with one of those orange poles for the tachyonic laser on the wing, but i didnt know what to use for the other wing which i guess is the IMP missle rack. Input or pictures from any lego maniac out there or martin would be appreciated.

I loved space Lego when it first apeared. I think it was around 1979 or 80. Most of the ships of that time had blue bodies, grey wings and sloping yellow windscreens. All the astronauts wore red or white. Is it one of those?

Jive's your man for Lego EV:O constructions... my Lego resides at my parents house, and is more than a little out of date. There were no translucent orange parts back then, and everything looked a lot chunkier. Of course, I bought the Star Wars Lego... you're never too old for Star Wars! 🙂

Damn, they made space Lego? I just stuck with the basics for my ships. 'best thing I was using was those red slopes.

I have about eight Lego spacecraft hanging around, too much work gone into them to destroy them.

It was about a foot long - maybe a little less. The tachyonic laser was on the left side and the tractor beam on the right. The IMP rack was underneath, with opening bomb-bays.

There was no space lego when I made it.

Ahh... Now i see how the weapons work. 12 in. long? That would explain how you made all of the different shapes. I was trying to make one about half of that size. One other question before i go and try again: How did you make the canopy? My Lego collection is slightly more modern than your was, since i was not born yet back then. Was that just a part back then, or were there connecting parts that linked together to form the longer canopy? I have a few one clear glass pieces i could fit together.

Anyone who had ideas/suggestions can email them or post them here for all to view.

I made the UE FIghter once. Took about 2 hours, but looked pretty good when I finished. I also made the Discovery from 2001/2010. That was over 3 feet long and took 2 days to build(Spheres are hard!).

This is starting to get harder. My collection of red bricks, especially slopes, is not quite up to par. Looks like i'll have to open my cobweb infested wallet and go to toys-r-us. On the bright side, i found a nice sloping glass piece to use

I think when I have completed all the ships from the UE I will post picts. So far the finished ones are UE Fighter, UE Destroyer,UE Cruser. One I'm starting is the UE Carrier I think. Sphears are realy hard to do. I also have made a glaxey class star ship for star trek the next generation, It was 5 3/4 feet, Use $$150 of lego. I have never taken apart one of my modles that I have made. I hear a lot of people have taken there other ships/modles apart to make more. I put so much time into these I cant take them apart...

Don't try to buy bricks from a toy shop by selecting sets that have a few of the ones you want in each. It's a damned expensive way to build up your collection. Visit the Lego website ( (url="http://"http://www.lego.com")www.lego.com(/url) , obviously) and look up 'bulk bricks' in the "shop at home exclusives" section. You'll have increased your supply of sloping red bricks at much less expense.
