I wonder, has anyone tried to capture isled station before?
------------------ do I pilot a UE destroyer? certainly not!
I've tried. And failed. Miserably. Has anyone actually done it? Or Voina?
------------------ If at first you don't succeed, use more duct tape.
I have the easiest way in the world to dominate planets, without actually cheating, so yea I have done it. You need to obtain the cloaking device, put on a couple of fuel scoops, and hire (or capture) a couple of powerful escorts. If the planet has fighters for the defense fleet (ie, fast ships), it's best to pilot a ship that can outrun them. Best to have a full fuel tank when you start this process too.
Demand tribute from the planet, then immediately cloak. The fleet will just sit there, and NOT go for your escort ships! Let them take care of them all. When your fuel meter starts getting low, fly off to a safe distance and keep away from the fleet while your fuel fills back up, then cloak and repeat until fleet is defeated!
I actually managed to do this once while a bunch of UE ships were in the system, so they took care of the fleet for me, and all I had to do was keep my distance. I did all this recently in an arada against a cruiser and frigate defence fleet too.
So there you have it. A perfectly legal, no cheat plug-in required (except maybe for the cloaking device, I like to keep that with me) 'Planet Domination Technique by Captain SlinkyŽ' Happy dominating!

Isled station, Ekuip, Ekuip Station, Avann Station, Krotun, Lelint, Gualon, Gualon Station, and Obron Outpost are a complete waste of time to capture, as those planets either change governments or are completely destroyed during the UE mission string. Might as well go for Voina instead of spending hard-earned credits blowing away huge defense fleets when the government changes and the tribute money stops flowing in.

Slinky's tactic works, but sometimes...you have to sit there monitoring your fuel all the time. It takes ages , and it's very boring. If you want to cheat a little more, but do it more successfully (don't take this to mean I'm a born and bred cheater - only on FH black hole mission do I really cheat, as I just posted), try getting a UE Cruiser, disabling and boarding a UE carrier before it gets it's fighters out, then start stealing fighters. Get 40 or so, send them all out, and the max. ship per system rule means the defences can only send 1 ship out (for some reason, totally useless against Council Station).
I hate demanding tribute...what's the point of tribute? Just plunder!
------------------ Word.
Easy way around the time problem. Press Esc, go into Set Prefs, and set the game speed to full (225% I think). Go back into the game, and press caps lock. The time will FLY by. Just remember to set it back to normal before your fuel runs out, or you could be dead before you know it.
By the way, I LOVE the Azdara ship! I can beat anything with that! Pity about the 1 ton cargo bay though.

Hmm...hadn't thought of that. I might try it some time. Oh, and, Crescent Fighters rock more.

SilverDragon, do you mean to capture the UE Carrier as an escort?
And when you say to "start stealing fighters...40 or so..." are you suggesting boarding disabled fighters? Can you get more than five UE fighters in your hold this way?

You don't board the fighters; you board the carrier. Take the unlaunched fighters as 'ammo'. There is no need to capture the carriers and use them as escorts... you can capture or hire much more dangerous ships for your fleet.
BTW... I hear that you can use a tractor beam to drag disabled UE fighters into a disabled UE carrier, so they're there when you board it.
