Does anyone know how to either:
1. "Deactivate" Hector or 2. Destroy Hector
He's always showing up at the most inopportune times and screwing up missions. Yes, I do intend to pay for the game...but until then, what do I do? Do I just quit playing the game until I pay for the game/receive my license?
Thanx for the help!

The solution is simple.
While you're waiting to register Override, just save up your money so you can.
You can't really get rid of Cap'n Hector. He's there to be annoying, and that was Ambrosia's intention. Register the game, and be free from Hector's money-grabbing characteristics and annoying messages.

It's not impossible to kill Hector. The way i did it was to lure him close to another ship and then detonate a forklift. This would create an explosion that would destroy Hector. I didn't mean to do it. It was by chance that it happened. You just have to live with him.

Works with Voinian space mines too... and it doesn't have to be a ship, a forklift can hit an asteroid too and the blast can usually kill him... but damn all, he has an escape pod

To put into simple terms, any weapon with any kind of blast radius will strike hector. Might as well issue a challenge...the best pilot can take Hector down using only rockets.
I actually haven't even tried to do the same on a pod...are they truly invincible?

I haven't tried it, but my guess is that they can be destroyed the same way, although it would be harder, since they constantly move at high speed.

I just downloaded a plug called "Escape Pod Plug 2.0" With this plug, no-one can have an escape pod, so when they are wiped out, they are eliminated from the game. Maybe now, Hector will get just what he deserves.

I doubt it. You see, s he actually reincarnates, it's not that she uses an escape pod.
In EV, there was always the "make Hector drive an escape pod with Resedit" tweak.
in EVO, not much you can do when Hector steals your cash, except for being mean to the file system and force-quitting when you see the parrot screen (instead of clicking ok). When you start EVO back up, you're on the planet prior to where you just landed (where the game last saved).
Better to pay for the awesome games, though.
Well, I HATE forklifts, but that's pretty obvious. And no, you can't destroy escape pods, as far as I know.
But I've never tried forklifts in EV:O, so I'm not sure. Pretty such that destroying them wouldn't make a difference, in terms of having the bad guys come back to life, since I think the escape pod flag just reincarnates them.
Hector springs eternal!

Create an pΓ«rs thats named hector / hectorina and put her in an tradeship and shot it down, not the same but itΒ΄s fun
