I was reading another posting that said the Perugo Forest (or the Thief) is over by Gidolan Gate? I thought it was south of Varandeep Lake? Dah..... I've also found I have to go back into that Skull Cave (AARK!) to retrieve that tooth! Oh Goood, once in there truly wasn't enough. Oh well...

Hehe, that dungeon actually is quite easy. Pretty devoid of the more challenging monsters. And for 1 hour of gaming time, not that tedious either.

The North Gidolan tunnel entrance is south of Varandeep Lake - look at your map. The thieves' lair is in the square to the east of the tunnel entrance. I find it annoying that the Perugo Forest is the only geographic feature in the game not identified by any sign. The Skull Cave (did anyone encounter The Phantom in there? ) is not all that bad in terms of monsters, it is just big and time-consuming to explore.

The map is a little annoying because nothing is really marked. Everytime I try to get to the southern end of the lake, I run into forests that I can't get through. Where can I access the southern end without going all the way through Endlesswind, etc? Also, Who Are Those Creatures?? Those Things that seem to be made out of rock?? I can't seem to survive them? In answer to the Skull Cave, I didn't encounter anything except your typicals...

One good side, you can make alot of money in that cave!!!

The map has Gidolan Keep, Fantrima, Berglum, Gwydden Camp, and The Learning Tree marked, plus all the tunnel entrances. The thieves' den in the Perugo Forest is one screen to the east of the North Gidolan tunnel entrance, which is south of the Plains of Endless wind entrance. There is a road south from the southern side of the lake which should direct you to the area of the North Gidolan entrance.
I don't know what those stony creatures are called, but they are really nasty and there are tons of them to get past in that area - at least they are worth 400 points each
The "Phantom" reference was just a bit of silliness on my part, an allusion to the comic strip character who lives in the "Skull Cave."

Is there a level you have to be at to around those giants? Everytime I try to get to Perugo, guess what I run into...The Giants...and I can's survive to seconds....Sigh...

Probably need to be level 25-30 and have really high ratings (30+) in strength, dexterity, etc., plus the best armor and weapons to survive against sea giants - but you don't need to fight them to complete the game. And if you are encountering sea giants on your way to the Perugo Forest, you are going the wrong way, as I mentioned in your other topic.
