Voinian Dreadnought

I have played EVO for about 2 years and I still don't get what the Voinian Dreadnought is. Is it more powerful than the UE Crusier? I guess so.

Thanks!

It's a big wedge-shaped thing (like an Imperial Star Destroyer in Star Wars IV) that carries Voinian Heavy Fighters and Voinian Interceptors, and also have rocket turrets, enhanced neutron turrets and a great deal of shielding (and, being Voinian, armour).

It only appears during two missions, unless you use one of the plugs that makes them appear elsewhere. If you help the UE, you will be sent to spy on the prototype 'naught, and then soon afterwards you and a small fleet of UE destroyers/carriers will have to carry out a pre-emptive strike against a Voinian invasion fleet that includes a 'naught.

It's usually a very satisfying fight. You're missing a big part of EV:O... check it out. Just keep visiting bars in UE space. (All the best mercenary captains are alcoholics.)

The Voinian Dreadnought... is big.

That's all very nice, but where are the guns?

Incorrect. It carriers only Voinian Interceptors, I believe either 8 or 16 of them. And its shielding is equal to the UE cruiser.

If you're looking for the Dreadnaught, just keep an eye open for a Star Destroyer-looking, huge warship. Be prepared for plenty of fighters, rockets, and neutron fire as well. 🙂

Have you ever done the United Earth missions? You can receive the Dreadnaught missions pretty early into the string...

-Cap'n Skyblade
-Battle for Sol - Episode III: The Worlds Beyond the Milky Way - coming soon -

Stats:

150 Shields
1500 Armor
120 Rockets
6 Enhanced Neutron Turrets
10 Voinian Interceptors

Don't worry, its speed is about 60 or so. This is the only thing I Monty Python on. I like using Aradas and such against it, which kinda get shredded if they get to close.

I don't cheat by looking these things up in an editor, so I wouldn't know the exact numbers involved, but I'll take your word for it, Rak. I managed to knock 12% off the Dreadnaught's shields by luring it over an exploding Voinian Cruiser, though... better than a space mine!

Perhaps the Heavy Fighters that come after me are launched by the escorting Voinian Cruisers... things tend to get a little, er, complicated in that battle. Especially if you also have a 'destroy battle group' mission for the same system.

A very satisfying but at the same time frustrating fight because this monster refuses to die. 😉

I don't cheat either, I looked it up after I finished the game to start my plug-in. Ah, so you use the "get all the UE ships out there" strategy so you don't have to fight it yourself?

I did that for the first time, on my last run through the game... I was in a humble fighter, and needed a little help. Unfortunately, by the time I had dealt with all the heavy fighters and interceptors, the only remaining Voinians in the system were a disabled cruiser, and a heavily damaged frigate. The dreadnought had already been wasted by the UE forces. It freaked me out - I've never seen them win before, and I felt cheated of a fight.
