I've recently bought the Wayfarer Dagger from the Mage Tower and tested it. I deliberately let a monster kill me so that the dagger would teleport me back to Fantrima. Strangely, the monster killed me and the dagger didn't do anything to save me. I've tried this several times and I've died every time. Why isn't the dagger saving me?

Nothing can save a dead man..... Its ment to save from near death. like 1 point health left or so. Im not sure of the range of life it works in, but a Earth elemental hit me to 1hp left and it did just fine sending me into town.
I'm guessing that if you go up against an enemy that you have no hope of defeating at your current levels, who might wipe you out in a swipe or two, you'll never find yourself at that "low life" level at which the dagger does its thing. It's likely more useful when you're taking on enemies who are fairly close to you in HP, damage, etc.
