Just a question of opinion, but what's everyone's opinion on getting a general use ship with approx. 500,000 to 1,000,000 credits when one already has a scoutship. What do you all think the best buy would be...
------------------
Purchase the Arada - 1 million credits in Miranu/Crescent space. It's tough, fast, and versatile.

Arada or stick with the Scout ship. I love scout ships. They have a better edge over other vessels for trading, hit and run attacks or simply for normal uses. Just 1 thing. Don't use for heavy combat. Trust me. 3 Voinian Frigates got me into balls of flame.

Only three? Hah! I've downed seven in my scoutship before they came in with a Voinian Dreadnought!
Seriously though, an easy way to reck up you combat rating is to buy a Freight-Courier, equip it with rockets, wait for a UE Carrier and Voinian Cruieser to meet, and fininsh off the Cruiser when it's diasabled. I've gotten a deadly combat rating this way in my shuttle

I have always bought an Arada, and from there upgrade it with every thing expencive while plundering a few enemy ships (Azdgari Warships) Use the trade in value to buy a Lazira then from there upgrade it..... And then trade in for a Cresent Warship and hope that I get an Igazra down the line.
Oh ya, I took out 37 Voinian ships (15 Cruisers, 9 Frigates, and the rest Fighters) with the clocking divice and a Shuttle, lets just say it took me a while during finals week. ------------------

Once you've got the million, the Arada is the clear choice. Until then... tricky. The more often you change ships, the more money you lose on the trade-ins. Why oh why are you in a scoutship, though? The humble cargo transporter is cheaper and has a higher top speed. Unless you need range or you want a pretend-fighter so you can duel with renegades, the scoutship is not something you want to stay in.

You all know the best ship in the game is the Crescent fighter. Once you put some Dospect on the thing, and give it a few blazes, you can go out and lay waste on the voinians.

I wasn't aware the crescent fighter had any room for dospect. Never piloted one myself.
There is an alternative to the arada, even though it is an excellent ship. The freigh-courier will serve you well in the same price range, though I wouldn't recommend taking on strandless renegades with it.
Putting Dospect on an Azdara makes it invulnerable. It takes a while to kill things, though. I single-handedly downed a couple thousand (Literally) ships in it when I dominated Council Station.

3175 Crescent Warships+3*3175 Crescent Fighters=12700 ships in council station's defense fleet.
Get the Arada. Upgrade it and use it the whole game.

I just dont get it, how can yourmonkey post a topic, heΒ΄s unregistered? I seem to remember other guys has done it as well, how do they do that?

If you are the kind of pilot who doesn't use escorts, then the Arada is the way to go. It's fast, maneuverable, and has room to make a quite effective ship. Load it up with some dospect armor and it'll serve you well.
On the other hand, if you prefer to use escorts, then the Freight Courier is the obvious choice. It has a large enough crew that yo'll be able to capture renegade aradas left and right, and even Laziras if you're lucky. It's a quick way to get a good ship. Just don't plan to use the Freight courier as a warship in big battles, it's not that good. As soon as you capture a few Aradas for escorts, try to capture another Arada or a Lazira and switch places and use it as your new ship. Works well.

Not only is the cresent fighter a crappy ship but why would you ever switch phase for blaze. **
A few interesting ideas here, assuming you want to fly a fighter rather than a freighter. My observations:
Goomeister - The Dospect Azdara was great fun, but I had to fit it with three swivel cannon. It was so twitchy that I couldn't reliably hit anything smaller than a UE Cruiser with guns that just pointed straight ahead. You can fly some mean ovals around the slower ships, but whittling them down with three phase cannon takes too long. And it's not totally invulnerable; I had one shot out from under me.
Widowmaker - you might want to use blaze cannon if you were going after Voinians, because phase guns do naff-all damage against armour. Two other reasons to include a single blaze cannon in your weapon mix: 1. Blazers produce a 'knockback' effect which can slow down incoming enemies. Great if you're trying to Python a swarm of faster fighters. 2. Blazers spread there fire about, eliminating blind spots. A blaze shot will often knock an incoming fighter out of your blindspot and into the path of your phase shots.
The Arada is probably the best ship in that price range, if you perfer faster ships(like me). However, if you don't mind having a slow ship (like anyone who can stand flying a Voinian Cruiser), the Freight Courior might be better. Sometimes I'll buy one just so I can capture a Lizara for my ship, though.
And, using the Adzara w/ doposect and the experimental generator is almost as bad as cheating, as it's nearly invincible in human hands. Just like using a UE Cruiser to capture the Dreadnaught(which is also possible without cheating or plugs) is as good as cheating.

Yes, but emaghla cannons are far more effective on voinian armor and have pretty much the same range and accuracy. Granted they are heavier but its worth it. They produce the same knockback effect (but still, with the few amount of guns you can stick on a fighter this isn't significant). Fighters also have very limited blind spots, if you find your enemy in one it is quite easy to manuver and get rid of it.
Do you really rate Emalgha cannon, Widowmaker? I find the projectiles travel too slowly for my liking, and my enemy often escaes unharmed. Granted, they hit hard when they hit, but their usefulness is limited if you venture into the Crescent. The blaze gun is more of an all-rounder; some use in every theater. Excellent game balance, making certain that the blaze gun is the weapon you start off with - well done Ambrosia!
No, I don't consider the emalgha cannon a great weapon. But when fighting Voinians its beats the blaze and I cant stand using the blze in the cresent. I prefer neutron turrets (If I have the room) I think that their slow movement fills in the blind spots but thats just me. After you use them for a while you manage to manuver around so that every shot hits.
