Shield generator. It takes forever for armor to recharge.
Yeah, but Dospect armour is sooo useful in the cresent. I spend most of my time on less than half armour...
And to get the shield generator you have to work for the Azdgari, thus becoming a social outcast and developing chronic hygiene problems.

Those are all good reasons I just don't like voinians so i suppose thats why I dont like armour very much.
As a general rule I prefer more shields in any case, but it's good to have that armour underneath. I wish it was possible with the EVO engine to actually have vital components of your ship or other ships damaged once you get through the shields. Then you would have repair stations on planets and maybe an expert mechanic to mess with your systems. I always feel bad when I finish a ship off when he could get me with one more shot. I shouldn't be able to use my guns by then.

Azdara's armor charges just as fast as its shields, its just that ships with a lot of armor dont have a high shield re speed to begin with. It all depends on who your fighting, and you can relate your protection method to your weopon, and have a better ship for it. If you have phase or neutron, the Dospect would be the way to go, if u have blaze or Emalgha, then shields would be better.all should relate to who your fighting, attackers in strands and miranu battles are best guarded by Armor, UE, Emalgha, and Voinian attackers are best defended with shields. there is not 'best' thing, it is always related to the (hated) term, "It Depends"

That's exactly why you should like using their armour. There's nothing more satisfying (all right, not many things) than taking out a Voinian fleet when down to only armour, killing them with the technology you stole from them! Heh heh heh!
Always go for the shields first. Shields are you primary concern, while armor is normally used as an emergency backup (unless you prefer the Voinian tactics). I don't buy armor unless I have a ship that has the room to carry something heavy-duty like Bronev armor...
