Here's what I mean : My ship has two turrets. Two fighters are attacking me. One turret attacks each ship. You would be able to target both ships.

You should be able to rescue crew from disabled ships, and then increase your standing with the appropriate government by returning them to one of that government's planets = nonviolent way of sucking up to governments.
You could piss 'em off, too, by jettisoning the guys. I came perilously close to jettisoning Anna Baroshkova (sp?), just for the fun of it.

her name is balishova...heres why armour doesnt regenerate: take a peice of steel, break it. how do you get the steel back together without heating it up above 3000°c? you can possible get a temperature that hot outside the ship where the damage is done. is everyone happy now that i explained why armour CANT regenerate? that way, the voinians would be screwed

I hate to harp on this armor regeneration thing any more, but I just have to. EV takes place in the year 2750 or something that is more that about 400 years in the future. With the extreme time differential between then and now it is completely plausible to have armor that regenerates itself. Look at The Phantom Menace. When the nubian was hit all the droids were brought outside and began fixing the ship while it was still moving and trying to evade its enemies. With that idea, why couldn't the droids bring up extra steel plates or whatever is used for armor and weld it into place again. I'm sure someone will find a flaw in my theory.

Actually, the surface on Venus only gets up to 800 Fahrenheit. I believe the temperature changes from 400 to 800 planetwide.
Kinda interesting, considering Earth's temperatures 50-80 (average) and the fact that the Martian surfaces (not at the poles) gets around 50 to 80 Fahrenheit.
your ship doesnt always face the sun, and venus is the second furthest planet from the sun in our solarsystem. a ship that close would get a little too hot.
about the starwars droids. good point, but how the hell does armour regenerate as fast as sheilds? maybe make a really slow recharge rate for armour and a faster one for sheilds, that way, sheilds have a greater quality. perhaps you could make armour regenerate by buying droids/whatever to rebuild your ship

In response to the Venus thing. I think the space outside Venus would only heat the surface pf your ship up to 200 F or so.

Lunar 2, I believe EV 3 has 64 ships. It has over 500 systems default (not counting Visbit systems) and something like 500 missions. They changed almost everything they could.
The landing picts and description are huge. I don't like the buttons graphics tho, their arrangement don't look very semitrical =(

When you hyperspace out of a battle, when you arrive in the next system 3 days later, your shields are at the same level. However, when you spend one day on a planet, your shields are fully regenerated. That should definetly be fixed.

Well, there are quite a few things I'm hoping for in EV3:
-Realistic physics. No more "top speed." -Floating point coordinates. No more "slamming into the edge." -No limit to the number of worlds per system. In fact, the entire game could even take place in the Sol system, considering the hundreds of worlds that are here. (not that I'm suggesting that, but I really would like a complete Sol system) -Proper distances. Speeds are given in astronomical units per hour, but if the distances between planets are much too short for these speeds to make sense. -A better "economy." Come on, an Arada is -not- worth a hundred Shuttlecraft, and who would pay 10,000 credits for a shipment when they could just buy their own ship and transport their cargo themselves for the same cost? -A greatly increased limit on the number of ships in system, and an increase in the max number of escorts. You'd probably want to balance prices some more, as earlier; who would ever hire a light freighter when you can get six shuttlecraft for so much less? -Semi-random shifting of borders and power of governments. This could be designed to fluctuate a bit, but not enough to ever "tip the scales" unless the player helps out. -Much smaller defense fleets. If Sol has thousands of cruisers, how come they don't ever use them in battle?

This is one of the most stubborn misconceptions I have ever seen....the time spent at a speed greater than the speed of light (like hyperspace), or at any other great speed, is relative. While three (or one, or two) days may have passed for people on, say, planets (or other such comparably "stable" objects), for the people on the ship the amount of time would have been instantaeneous, or close to it. That's why your shields and armor can't be regenerated in space (besides all the technical complications of it). Honestly, people, it's in the bloody manual...
As much as I hate to even suggest such a thing, I think that Ambrosia should start making their games PC/Mac. The main reason for this is that with the recent decline of Apple, and the universal use of the PC, it seems anti-productive to sell your games to the lesser used machine. Now I know all about the interface and system differences, but at least for myself, my old mac will most likely not be able to handle EV3 and a new or even used computer that could fit my needs would be out of my reach. I do prefer macs, but these days the PC seems the way to go.
P.S. This is from a dedicated mac user who wants nothing more than to have a new, decent Mac to use with EV3.

A nit: if I recall correctly, this is realistic, at least for chemically-based propulsion systems (i.e. rockets). Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. At any rate, the speed of light would be tops... (like I said, a nit)
My wish for EV3, and I apologize if it's been mentioned before, is that the status of ship subsystems be tracked independently. That is, it should be possible for individual weapons, or targetting, or engines, or radar, etc. to be damaged. Ships could then have a subsystem repair rate based on the number of crew (larger ships having a larger engineering section).
Looking forward to the next installment of this game!

Nyah, don't mess with my physics, boy > There is no "speed limit" save for that of light. Speed is all relative, after all. If you can accelerate to 10 km per second, there's no reason you can't accelerate to 20, if you have the fuel. The reason that chemical rocket-propelled ships (which the EV ships most certainly are NOT) rarely attain such speeds is that fuel is limiting. If you have a ten tonne ship, and you can explode liquid hydrogen-oxygen fuel at a velocity of four kilometers per second, then you need ten tonnes of fuel to move your ship forward at four kilometers per second. If you are to move forward at eight kilometers per second, you need twenty tonnes of fuel. The sad fact is that the more fuel you have, the greater the mass of your ship is, and the harder it is to propell. And if you're to ever stop, you need twice as much fuel, and if you're to come back, you need four times that much. The solution to all this is to use more fuel-efficient thrusters. Unfortunately, more fuel-efficient tends to mean less energy-efficient. An ion engine strips xenon of its electrons, and repels these electrons out of the back at 31 kilometers per second. Meaning that while ten tonnes of chemical rocket fuel can send the 10 tonne ship forward at 4 kilometers per second, ten tonnes of xenon can send it forward at 31 kilometers per second. The big drawback of an ion engine is that it can only send a very small volume of ionic xenon out at once. The more you send out at once, the less efficient you can be, and the slower it goes. An ion engine can be used to reach very great speeds with very little fuel, but it takes a very long time to accelerate. However, as many problems as this presents in terms of fuel efficiency, it does not mean that there is a "top speed." With a sufficient quantity of fuel - massive as it may be - we can conceivably reach any speed short of the speed of light itself. Now one rather big louse egg is that the speeds given for the ships in EV (expressed in AU per hour) often exceed that of light. Eww.

To convert EV3 to Windows would be more trouble than if its worth. Honestly, most PC users only use 3D games. Ambrosia would be an unknown company and EV would be just another 'stupid 2D space shooter' amongst the thousands of other Space shooters.
