Hello all,
I'm a bit frustrated trying to beat the Guardian. I'm 23rd level, w/ 173 hp; have the Dwarven Runic Sword, Lilith Shield and pretty much the best of the remaining armor. Thanks to these boards, I've finally learned (shame-faced) to block correctly, so I'm good at 1-on-1 fights now. That said, here's my main problem w/ the Guardian: I block (thank God!) most of his blows, but when I take a healing potion after he gets a good hit in--and this might be a bug--then it's like I'm not blocking anymore, and he kills me quite quickly!!
My stats are fairly normal: 23 Str, 26 (?) Dex, 33 Vitality, 9 Speed, and 20 for both Luck & Marksmanship (I used the Elven Bow for a long time).
I don't feel like playing for hours on end killing things so I can buy more stat potions, so I can then fight my way back to the Guardian...and be dispatched just as easily as before. I'm hoping there's some more basic tips for beating him. The game's been very fun up to now, but endless deaths have a way of sapping one's enthusiasm.
Thanks in advance, Ben

Well, you can't just hold "block". Right after you take the potion form the inventory, the battle screen comes back and right after it does you have to press "block". If you keep holding "block" during the "potint picking" it will not "block" after you take the potion.

Thanks for the advice! Maybe that explains my problem. I'll (sigh) fight my way back and give it another shot. I've boosted Dex. by a few more points; hopefully I'll actually strike him a few more times...
A technique that works for me with the Guardian and lesser opponents is to run away when stamina gets low, gulp a potion or two, and then return to the fight at full strength.
