Is their any penalty or problems if I obtain a quest item (black tooth, harp, Emilius' book, etc.) by accident before I am actually given that quest by someone.

do not take any objects when your not told to. I did and I'm not able anymore to go further. I took the black tooth without the druid telling me.

The druid does not tell you to, complete the order of the seasons quest, andthe shield quest ( I think)
