I reckon that you're no longer a newbie when you get up the courage to post on Banter and Brawl. That place scares me... :frown:

Hmm, it isn't scary. Find your niche and plow through. If anyone flames you or disagrees, don't back down. You'll be accepted in no time.

Hmm..... I never liked Banter & Brawl. It's too busy. I'll give it a go, for fear of being a newbiem though.

Why does it scare you? There's no reason to be scared of it. Be scared of Just Chat and htjyang and company. They're the ones who want to destory the world.

Nuh-uh. The biggest posting of sex and violence was on THIS forum, not B&B.;
I wouldn't say being well known is a very big requirement for getting out of newbie status. I don't consider myself one, but I find it hard to believe many people know my name. It's something about what you have to say and how you say it. Captain skyblade was a newbie when he'd post just to say he didn't know the answer, but he was fairly well known pretty quickly. It's just how you handle yourself.

Excellent point. Now that you bring that up, I think one shouldn't have to get people's attention to stop being a newbie. Oh, and for all those afraid of big bad B&B;, I have two totally benign topics running there at the moment that you're welcome to check out.

I am above everyone else in everything, havn't you learned that yet forge
Seriously, it's all maturity. My advice to you guys who are still fretting about this is to wait a few months, and then ask again (in your head). Odds are you'll know the answer then.

And with very good reason. Avoid that place if you want to feel good about yourself...

please no spam, and stay on topic. i really wanna know..... am i a newbie?
Actually it varies from person to person. To me, anyone who hasn't been around for 6 months is a newbie, and anyone who visited the old boards is an oldie.
There is no definition of a newbie.

heheh, I wasnt a newbie for the summer of 2000, and then all these newbies started coming along and shoving everyone else to different boards, oh well,

I went to B+B, and opened a topic (completely at random) called 'own your own cotton mouse'. I am now very afraid of that board.
Hmmm...... I stayed away from that one.
Try "Ares Board Game". Just post a single word related to what someone else said. It isn't scary.
PS: I couldn't get Tigana. Sorry...
why is everyone scared of B&B;? it's not that harsh, at least, not when im happy, but fear what you want to, even if it's just a bunch of raving lunatics, some with no power over you and others with karmasticks...
------------------ what have I become, my sweetest friend. Everyone I know goes away, in the end
Oh wait, karmasticks hurt, especially when wielded by raving lunatics, but I shouldnt be afraid, because everyone love me on the B&B; board, in fact, you might say im some of a legend. Ahhhh, im so full of it arent i? Oh well, i hate you all too

Yeah, it is hard to get hold of. But anyway, it's 688 pages long with tiny writing, and it's the most distressing book I've ever read. I doubt you would be able to cope
<grrrrrr>
Jess, I can easily cope with that. Have you read Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time? 4000 pages, tiny writing, and also distressing.
You know I just posted that to annoy you :). 4000 pages? I'm impressed.
