Spaceport Bar

Ok I am going to do what Stud Beefpile did. Let's make this a spaceport bar without the drunken brawls and frequent gunbattles. If you have interesting stories, feel free to post them here.

One time I jumped into the Mavs system down near the Proxima Nebula and got jumped by an enormus renegade fleet. And I mean HUGE. I was in a Lazira at the time, but after about 20 minutes I was able to take down the entire fleet which consisted of at least 6 Crescent Warships. I later found out I had accepted a mission to destroy the fleet; so I ended up getting some nice fat bills to augment my already large ego.

Anybody can post messages here so don't hesitate.

Forgotten you had accepted a mission, huh? Heh. Anyway, I love to fly around in my Arada destroying things. I was so happy the first time I nailed a Voinian Frigate.

Um, now might be a good time to mention that the moderators don't look kindly on duplicate topics.

The last time I was on this board, the price of dumb questions was really high.
Ask me what I'm doing.

My propping-up-the-bar story:

Last time I was in a massage parlour on Omm I met a girl who told me that her brother went to school with a guy who once met somebody whose dentist had treated a guy who had seen Vandervecken's Sharks. You know - the renegade squadron from the Time of Expansion, who were taken out by the Navy. They were never buried after the battle, and their souls can't rest. They just roam the outer DSN systems in their old-fashioned ships, endlessly looking for a jump-point that'll take them to Heaven.

Their ships still show the battle damage they took from the Navy, and if you're stupidf enough to get in close, you can see the crews, still at their posts. Their spacesuits are torn ragged, and there's nothing but festering corpses inside. One or two people have been so scared of them that they've opened fire... even though you can't get a weapon lock because they don't show up on radar. If you fire, though, you'll never be seen again.

At least, that's the way the story goes.

I haven't had any really fun battles, except ones with the Dreadnought.

I was fighting the Dreadnought in my trusty UE fighter. I leapt in system, and
the 4 UE Destroyers instantly went to commit suicide against the huge triangular
bulk of the Dreadnought.

I, however, decided not to go commit suicide just yet. I outcircled and dispatched
all the fighters, then got rid of a pesky Voinian Frigate that was bothering the
Destroyers.

I then switched over to see how the Destroyers were doing at the exact same moment
the last was disabled, propelled away gently by a rocket.

I gulped, and gulped down. I cleared my throat, and gulped a few more times.

Then I leapt at the Dreadnought, in a standard Spearhead. This turned out not to
be intelligent, as it had some rockets left. So I moved further out and danced
around it while it wasted it's rockets before moving on to Spearhead.

I was shocked. Spearing multiple Voinian cruisers is one thing, but spearing THIS
thing is NOT advised. Shields plummeted from 100% to around 40% in one pass.

I waited to recover my shields, and attacked again. I was fairly sure it was recovering
all the damage I was doing, which annoyed me. And when I'm annoyed I get reckless.

I made a stupid pass at it when my shields were at 55%. I only just came out alive,
staring at my empty shield gauge with wonder. I held back then, and a UE Carrier
hyperspaced in.

I sighed in relief. Why, I'll never know. I watched it make short work of 4 UE
Destroyers, and expected a single UE Carrier to do anything.

The UE fighters came forth and started firing. I join their ranks up until the
point where I was the only UE fighter left, and had to pull back to recover.

Then the UE carrier attacked. I watched it move forward, at a very slow pass.

I saw it pass right on top of the Dreadnought, and then...... it exploded. It didn't
last five seconds - the Dreadnought tore it apart.

I got a bit upset then, and even composed a song with the primary lines "I'm alone",
which is something I felt very strongly then.

I made a pass at it, and recklessly made another. Rested, another 2 passes. Again.
And again and again and again. And a couple more times. I got tired, slipped, and
nearly lost my ship.

Then....... I made one more pass. And that huge warship - that incredible hulk,
was finally disabled.

I smiled, I got up and leapt around. I fired blaze shot after blaze shot into it's
lifeless hull, hammering away at it. It took a long time, by which time some more
Voinian were pestering me.

I kindly told the other Voinians to shut up, then returned to my job. I heard the
familiar "boom, boom, boom-boom-boom BOOM-A-BOOM" but this time the explosion was
huge. My fighter nerly got destroyed in the blast, but it JUST managed to surive.

Then I happily travelled home.

The Battle with the Dreadnought is the best! It takes forever but you feel so good when you finally kill it.

page 4 or 5, but I decided to bring it back up.

This is UltraPhoenix. I thought the Voinian Dreadnought was rather easy, but of course I used an Arada or a Lazira. I just used my Neutron Cannons and kept out of range.

I applaude SilverDragon for his amazing victory against the awesome power of a Dreadnought. I would be hard pressed to duplicate that feat.

(disappears into the shadows)

I enjoy the Dreadnought mission(s) so much that I always destroy the prototype during the 'cloaking device' mission as well. Does anybody else do that?
