K,first off i'd like to thank everyone who has helped me in the past and might help me here.
Anyways, on to my question:
I am trying to fiddle with the clipper from the EV Classic Ships 1.0 plug-in for EVO, and i'm having some trouble.
I have tried using The Docks, Ev-Edit (2.3 i think), and Shipwerks (or something like that).
Whenever i try to edit something on the clipper, or ANY other ship (a new ship, a default ship, or a ship only in the plug), the change will stay until i 1. close the plug to either open a new one or re-open this one (even if i try to save) or 2. quit the editor (even if i try to save). Note: some editors do not allow me to manually save, so i just hit Yes when they ask me to save.
If i re-open this plugin, either in the same editor or one of the other ones, the change is deleted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, because i think that i want to start a plug-in of my own, and this bug would kinda stop me from doing so (unless i tried res-edit, but i'm not sure i'm ready to try that yet).
Thanks

Yeah, the EV Developer's Corner is really a better place for this, for future reference. But regarding your question: EV-Edit is notorious for a variety of weird bugs like that. Directly editing plug-ins gives you the most control over them and is the best way to ensure they come out right. Start reading up on the EVO Bible and learning how to edit with ResEdit, and your life will become a lot easier where plug-in making is concerned. Using an editor may be easier to learn, but many can occasionally screw up, leaving hard-to-trace bugs in your plug-in.

Well, in Shipwrite, I think I know what you're doing wrong. The initial dialog box that comes up has a check box marked : Safe: Read only. Uncheck this box when you open you're plug, and it will save changes when you're done.
Ev-Edit is just buggy, I think.

Oh, and don't forget to D/L the templates, unless of course you enjoy spending most of your life trying to decode hex..

Yeah, ResEdit was a lot tougher before I knew about the templates
It is really easy to edit Escape Velocity ships and outfits using ResEdit. Override data is a different story, though...

What's so hard about editing ships and outfits in Override?

With Escape Velocity, editing ship stats and outfits was an easy task (and still is): All you had to do was re-type the standard number with a new one, save it, and the changes were made. Editing Override with ResEdit gets a bit harder...It's harder to change ships stats etc., since the Override programming data is more complex then Escape Velocity.
