Mission Bits

I have general questions about mission bits. How can you check your pilots mission bits? Where is your pilot information? How can you check to see how different missions affect mission bits? Any answers to these questions would be appreciated.

The only way I know of is the special pilot file editor seant developed. Look around the Developer's board to find it. <edit>If Starstrafer's right (and there's no reason to think he isn't), this is also available from the add-ons page.</edit>

The best utility to do this is probably EV/O MissionBits Reporter, made by the inimitably great Pontus Ilbring, available from his (url="http://"http://members01.chello.se/warlordpontus/ev/")web site(/url). Another similar utility is BitMap, by another great software developing team, Ralph & Rodger Sutherland This one can be found on their (url="http://"http://www.sutherland-studios.com.au/family/evo_software.html")web site(/url). I haven't tried BitMap much, but judging from the quality of their other offerings, it should work fine.

Weeeeeeeeeeell, all pilot info, such as set mission bits, for a given pilot is in the pilot file itself. The only way you could check this info would probably by using the Pilot File Editor, currently in Alpha testing but available on the add-ons page. The only way to see the relationship between bits and specific missions is by checking out the data files in ResEdit or something similar.

To answer the question posed by your signature, it has to do with EVO's blatant discrimination against red ships. Look for shades of red on EVO ships, and what do you find? Red accents on Voinian ships, red fins on UE ships, and not much else.
