When every I have used a Tracter Beam it has just blown up the ship I used it on, can you actually use this tool for anything else???

I don't understand about the blowing up part - a bug in a plug-in, perhaps?
Tractor beams are best used: In warships to stop fighters, especially Azdaras, from running away. In any powerful ship to stop freighters from escaping you.
If you have an advantage head to head they are best used to bring the battle to a head to head combat instead of one that includes many deadly tactics, such as the Monty Python, the Spearhead, Outcircling and so on.

If the tractor beam is blowing enemy ships on, then that's great! What are you complaining about?
Try hacking the game with EvEdit or it's like and checking the information for the tractor beam. Turn off any damage that has been put on, and if the "Tractor Beam" box isn'tchecked then check it.

Or you could take EVO and throw it into the Trashcan... WAAHAHAHAHA! Working on an EVO DATA file with EV Edit! That's a good one! EV-Edit messes up your files 30 % of the time... so WATCH OUT
The tractor beam doesn't harm ships.... just makes 'em angry with you.
And it can also be used to drag disabled fighters (really only works for UE) back into their disabled mother ships so you can "steal ammo". You can use this method to get more than 3 (or 5) fighters into your fighter bay.

That isn't the only way to steal fighters.
A UE Cruiser, well equipped, can ambush a UE Carrier and disable it in a few seconds, faster with phase turrets. That's before it can get all its fighters out - then you can simply board the ship and steal them.
Never. The enemy ship's first reaction is ALWAYS to launch fighters. And you just can't disable a ship that fast, no matter how much firepower you have. I'm a total non-believer..... can you convince me otherwise?
It worked enough for me to get 54 UE Fighters.
There are usually 2-3 fighters still in it's bay.
Believe me - I ambush it, sitting right on top of right. It goes down super quick, especially when I get it when there aren't any other guys around.
I use rockets as well. It works - honestly!
