To those of you who have grown bored with easily defeating inferior opposition in your supercruisers, to those of you who wish to test your skill, and to those of you who enjoy piloting your own ship without having to rely on a crew, I issue the "Crew of One" Challenge. It is very simple: play through all of EVO with a new pilot and finish each of the three core objectives, and do it using only ships that have a single person crew. This originated from an idea I had while playing primarily as a fighter pilot, and it should be a true test of your combat abilities and resolve. If you succeed, you will have shown the effect that a lone person can truly have in the EVO universe.
For an extra wrinkle, do not side with the Azdgari in the Strand War. This will prevent you from using the seriously overpowered Azdara or unholy shield recharge rates.
If this still isn't intense enough for you... try it Strict.
Paradigm ...anything is possible...

Paradigm, I accept your challenge. Give me a while and I'll get through all the EVO objectives in only single pilot ships.

Good idea for a challenge. I'm not good enough for it yet, but to anyone who tries it, good luck.

That's what I like to see. Rock on, JediBrass!
Anyone else want to pick up the gauntlet?
Paradigm
I would go for it but the 30 day limit on my mac emulator ran out last week, and I'm also back at uni - but definitely sounds like a fun plan. I think I'd spend most of my time in the shuttle as it has more cargo than most ships of a "crew of one" and so can be used for more missions. I think a fairly important thing to do would be to get the Paaren station missions done as quick as possible but keep the UE escorts instead of going to the completed station in the last part of the mission - then they can help you take out anything that ails you :). Good luck those that are into it - you could even try making a krait a worthwhile ship!
A krait, now that would be though. What mac emulator did you use? I'm looking for some way to play EVO on my PC. also, what does a mac emulator do exactly?
Hrm...I'll give it some thought...
------------------ Ace Battlepilot <mercenary for hire> "My contract is simple. Give me a Miranu Gunship, give me upgrade funds, and turn this mad dog loose, cus once I'm let out, there's no hope for you..."
1 Crew? Not 3? Aww man. Well, I would do it, but I couldn't bear of the thought of leaving my Arada, AND not siding with the Azdgari! Maybe one day I'll try it. Anyone who does this on strict is just insane. I haven't ever done strict while playing the game normally!
BTW, I hope no one uses the powers of ResEdit, and makes the Voinian Cruiser have 1 Crew Member, and then claim they did it. I'm sure at least ONE person out there will do it. They probably won't come forward, but I'm sure it'll happen.

I hereby accept your challenge, Paradigm, and will complete all three EVO Central Objectives with a one-man ship.

You guys havn't ditched you PC's and gotten Macs?
-PC's . . . UGHHHH
Sorry 'bout that, its just that I hate ANYTHING made by Microsoft (OS copying pirates that they are), except IE 5.x and up AND MSN Hotmail. But these are only my opinions.
Cheers, Jedibrass
No offence ethier, but I believe you've seen too much Mac propaganda. Microsoft bought DOS. And, contrary to the belifs creater of the Apple company (I'm sorry, but I don't remember his name offhand), did not steal any programs or componants from Apple. For those of you who perfer macs for some reason, I respect your opinion and I wont badmouth them.
I'm game.
I'll post my progress in this thread.

Nice challenge, maybe it can get me back playing EVO, iยดm in
One question. Which three central objectives (ie Voinian or UE) and how about four?
------------------ Non est ad astra mollis e terris via.
Nebula, one of the strands, and UE or Voinian
I've completed all three of the objectives before, but not in a ship piloted by a single pilot...Talk about challenging.
